The German Diary Archive (DTA), located in the Old Town Hall of Emmendingen, sees itself as the repository of such contemporary testimonies from the German-speaking world. Diaries, memoirs and letters are collected there, archived, professionally stored and made accessible both to science and the general public. The German Diary Archive is a registered non-profit association (statute) and has approximately 600 members in 2019. Honorary member Frauke von Troschke founded the archive in 1998 and was chairman of the association for 18 years. Since April 2016, a new Executive Board team chaired by Marlene Kayen has been in charge of the DTA's affairs. The central contact point for the public is the Emmendingen office with its head and a scientific employee. This is where the work of the approximately 100 volunteers is coordinated, whose dedicated and unpaid work makes the archiving and careful indexing of the documents possible in the first place.
