Die Gesellschaft des Katholischen Apostolates wurde 1846 als Bestandteil der Vereinigung des Katholischen Apostolates von dem hl. Vinzenz Palotti in Rom gegründet; der weibliche Zweig, die Pallottinerinnen, entstand 1838.
1892 kamen die Pallottiner erstmals nach Deutschland und bezogen dort ihr erstes Domizil, den Walderdorffer Hof in Limburg an der Lahn.
