Inventory history: With the relocation of the seat of the district administrator from Butzbach to Friedberg in 1829, the previous district was renamed, and from 1832 it became the district of Friedberg (1848-1852 briefly administrative district of Friedberg). 1848/52 parts of the dissolved circle Hungen were integrated, from 1874 on the circle Vilbel, which was last newly formed in 1852, was integrated. From 1866, also places of the Nassau district office Reichelsheim in the Wetterau existing between 1849 and 1854 were added. Between 1961 and 1966, the files of the district authority were transferred to the State Archives in their entirety; they form the most comprehensive district office holdings for the period up to 1945. 1995/96 still saw various takeovers, including the invoices of the district treasuries of Vilbel (1870-1874) and Friedberg (1870-1934), which were considered destroyed during the war, in the Büdingen branch of the Wetterau district.
