Brief description: * 11.04.1899 † after 1950Since he was nine years old, Willy Stiasny has been enthusiastic about flying and has attended flying events. Together with his friend Otto Blum, Stiasny at the age of thirteen made a glider, which, however, broke before the first flight attempt. At the age of sixteen he found employment at the Ago works, later he also worked in other aircraft factories. Later he worked for various associations and archives, such as the Aero Club of Germany and the Wissenschaftliche Gesellschaft für Luftfahrt, and worked as an archivist on the collections of the former Reich Aviation Ministry. Stiasny's collection included 400 aviation books and 700 flight history files, sorted by country, person and aircraft type. He wrote an 'Illustrierte Geschichte der Luftfahrt' (Illustrated History of Aviation), which has more than 2000 pages and about 8000 exquisite pictures. The part of Stiasny's extensive private collection located in the Deutsches Technikmuseum Berlin mainly comprises newspaper clippings on various aviation topics, Stiasny's professional and private correspondence, photographs and material on various aviation personalities. It has a scope of 395 units of distortion with a duration of 1784-1975.
