In: Archive contentThe materials in the historical image and document collections are organised traditionally according to provenance from individual museums or scientific societies whose archives are stored with us.Our archives include material from: Zoologisches Museum Paläontologisches Museum Mineralogisches Museum Gesellschaft Naturforschender Freunde zu Berlin (Berlin Society of Friends of Natural Science) Zoologisches Institut at the Humboldt-University Berlin (and predecessor institutions) Deutsche Entomologische Gesellschaft und Biologische Gesellschaft der DDR (German Entomological Society and Biological Society of East Germany)The archives hold correspondences between scientists all over the world, as well as bequests or parts of bequests, manuscripts and administrative files. It is estimated that there are 90,000 files of written documents.Image collections are sorted into groups based on subject and type of image. They contain about 20,000 items (portraits, photos, drawings, prints etc.)There is a collection of historical models and teaching materials that complements the archive.
