History of the inventor: Helmuth Johannes Ludwig von Moltke, called Moltke the Younger, born 25 May 1848 in Gersdorf, died 18 June 1916 in Berlin. Helmuth Johannes Ludwig von Moltke was the nephew of Field Marshal Helmuth Karl Bernhard von Moltke. He and his wife Eliza had contact with Rudolf Steiner, whose esoteric pupil was Eliza von Moltke. During the Franco-Prussian War he fought in the Grenadier Regiment "King Wilhelm I". (2nd West Prussian) No. 7. In 1880 he became a member of the Great General Staff and in 1882 adjutant of his uncle. From 1902 to 1904 he was commander of the 1st Division of the Guard Corps. In 1904 Moltke was appointed Quartermaster General and in 1906 he succeeded Alfred von Schlieffens as Chief of the Great General Staff in Berlin. Moltke was replaced by Erich von Falkenhayn as Chief of the Supreme Army Command after the loss-making Battle of Marne. Moltke died of a stroke in Berlin in 1916 during the act of state for Field Marshal Colmar von der Goltz. Citation style: BArch, N 78/...
