Foundation of the company "Friedrich Colin, Deutsch-Afrikanisches Geschäft in Hamburg", for the purpose of promoting and developing trade with West Africa; recruitment of business members (Prince Hermann zu Hohenlohe-Langenburg, Count Frankenberg, Varnbüler, G. Siegle and others); Founding meeting on 9 March.1885; submission to the Imperial Chancellor Bismarck for the dispatch of an imperial official to Koba, Kabitai and Sumbayland; conclusion of contracts with several indigenous chieftains; attempt to settle differences with France with the involvement of the German envoy in Paris, Prince Clovis of Hohenlohe-Schillingsfürst; Rejection of an intervention by the German Reich (deployment of a warship); renunciation by the Reich of Koba and Kabitai in the delimitation of the spheres of interest with France; withdrawal of the prince from society; annual reports of the society.
