Archival history
Reverend William M. Dager (1869-1917) and Sarah Shaw Dager (1870-1936) were appointed to the PCUSA's West Africa Mission in 1899 and served at the Gaboon and Corisco Missions. William Dager trained Bulu candidates for the ministry and pastored the church at Elat while Sarah Dager taught Bulu women and children. The upheavals of the First World War necessitated their return to America in 1916. Their scheduled return to Africa the following year was aborted by William Dager's premature death. Mrs. Dager did not return to Africa and resigned from missionary work in 1920.
