Contents: An overview of the contents can be found in the classification. History of origins: Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Theodor Christoph Heinrich Rehbock (*12.04.1864 in Amsterdam, 17.08.1950 in Baden-Baden) studied civil engineering in Munich and Berlin from 1884 to 1890. After the diploma examination and the government building leader examination he worked from 1890 to 1892 in Berlin at the Reichstag building administration, then from 1893 to 1894 in the Bremen building administration. After passing the government building master examination in 1894, he worked in Berlin as a consulting engineer for hydraulic engineering and undertook journeys through Europe, to Canada and the USA as well as to South America and 1896/97 to southern Africa. In 1899 he was appointed full professor at the Technical University of Karlsruhe, where he established the river engineering laboratory and served as rector in the academic years 1907/08, 1917/18 and 1925/26. In 1934 Rehbock was emeritus. Pre-archival inventory history: Foreword by Klaus-Peters Hoepke in the provisional find book: "The inventory changed location several times between its creation and its transfer to the university archive. In 1943 Rehbock obtained permission from the rector to bring his papers from the river engineering laboratory to his house in Baden-Baden to arrange them. When Baden-Baden became a military restricted area in the autumn of 1944, Rehbock moved it to his alternative quarters in Ried b. Benediktbeuren/Obb. At the end of the war he took her back to Baden-Baden. Since his house was confiscated by the French military administration, he had to move again - taking his papers with him. During Rehbock's lifetime, but at the latest after his death, individual pieces of furniture, parts of his library, these papers - probably supplemented by parts of the written private estate - reached the Technical University of Karlsruhe. In September 1992 Prof. Dr. techn. Peter Larsen and PD Dr.-Ing. Hans Helmut Bernhart of the Theodor Rebock Institute arranged for the fundus to be transferred to the university archive. Furthermore Dr.-Ing. Andreas Richter from the Institute of Hydromechanics handed over a bundle of Rehbock manuscripts of the lecture on weirs to the archive in January 1995; it was added to the collection under the serial number 63a. The inventory listed below is made up of parts of the service room estate and private papers. In view of the distances travelled, experience has shown that it is hardly probable that the fundus that existed around 1943 is still completely preserved. After the war, for example, there must have been two folders with the correspondence that Rehbock had kept with the nestor of German hydraulic engineering, Hubert Engels from Dresden, a colleague he held in high esteem. In any case, the effects of war had destroyed not only countless measurement records, plans, etc. but also the historically valuable and extensive collection of site plans of the Rhine models: According to Rehbock, the already print-ready collection documented "the best I could achieve in the experimental world". (So to Anton Grzywienski, 15.12.1946, no. 162) [...] In Baden-Baden Rehbock actually dealt with arranging his papers. He probably used the registration plan as a basis, according to which he had correspondence, sketches, plans, etc. filed during his active time in the river engineering laboratory. (This registry plan no longer exists, so that the presumed losses can no longer be determined). Above all, Rehbock added explanatory remarks for posterity to individual folders or documents. Many documents then contain underscores, paint strokes or margin notes made with coloured pencils (red, purple or green). Unfortunately, it is not always clear whether these are traces of processing from the course of business or later highlights, which it seemed advisable to place roebuck in view of posterity." Archive history: Most of the documents were transferred from the Theodor Rehbock Institute to the university archive in September 1992. A small levy was made in January 1995 from the Institute of Hydromechanics (No 63a). The Institute for Hydraulic Engineering and Cultural Engineering, which emerged from the Theodor Rehbock Institute, submitted further documents in 1996, which Hoepke classified partly in "Signatures" he had created and partly under No. 351-381. Numbers 370-381 included 1,345 photographic glass plates. These were included in a provisional list in late 2003 and filmed and digitised at the turn of the year 2003/04. On 02.06.2008 the addition 29/? was added to the inventory as signature number 406. Explanation of the order: The order of the inventory was established in its basic features according to the order carried out by Theodor Rehbock. Changes took place in the initial stock formation in the university archive (see Archivische Bestandgeschichte) and in the digitisation of the finding aid in 2005. Indexing information: In the second quarter of 2005, the finding aid available in electronic form was easily edited and imported into the finding aid database. The existing classification was adopted largely unchanged. During the digitization of the finding aid, signatures with alphanumeric additions were changed to purely numeric signatures. 28th Cavalry Brigade: The 28th Cavalry Brigade was formed on 01.07.1871 from the former Baden Cavalry Brigade. First the Dragoner regiments 20 and 22 were subordinated to the brigade. From 1890 the brigade was assigned the Dragoner Regiment 21 to replace the retiring Dragoner Regiment 22. At the time of the mobilization the unit with the regiments assigned to it was subordinated to the 6th Cavalry Division. From February to 10 April 1917 the staff was known as the "Brigade Graf Spee". On 21 May 1918 the unit was renamed Kavallerie-Schützen-Kommando 28. The formation was deployed until 03.11.1914 on the western theater of war and afterwards until March 1918 on the eastern theater of war. From April 1918 it was used again in the West. In autumn 1920 the corps archive moved to the infantry barracks in Heilbronn. From January 1921, the Corps Archives entered the portfolio of the Reich Ministry of the Interior under the name Aktenverwaltung XIV, before being incorporated into the Reichsarchiv in Potsdam as the Heilbronn archive branch on April 1, 1921. As a result of the merger of the Heilbronn and Stuttgart branches of the Reich Archives, the holdings were transferred to Stuttgart in 1924. The Württembergische Archivdirektion, which took over the administration of the holdings of the Army Archives Stuttgart after the end of the Second World War, handed over the XIV Army Corps to the General State Archives Karlsruhe in the years 1947 to 1949. Division history: The 28th Infantry Division was set up on 01.07.1871 in the XIV Army Corps. At the beginning of the war, the division belonged to the General Command of the XIV Army Corps, analogous to the peace organization. It was responsible for the 55th and 56th Infantry Brigades, the 28th Field Artillery Brigade, the Hunter Regiment on Horse No. 5 and the 2nd and 3rd Company of Pioneer Battalion No. 14. From May 1919 the 28th Infantry Division formed the Resolution Staff 53.The infantry divisions were the lowest command authorities, which had a general staff. In 1849, after the introduction of the ministerial organisation, special departments were created for the tasks of the administration of worship and medicine performed by the government or its Special Department of Education (see 2.21-1). These departments were temporarily attached to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and then to the Ministry of Justice as departments for educational, medical and spiritual affairs. It was not until 1919 that a special ministry was established under the above-mentioned authority name, the members of which were also individually referred to as "Ministry of Education", "Ministry of Art", "Ministry of Spiritual Affairs" and "Ministry of Medicine". The competence extended to the entire area of education administration (including the University of Rostock), the administration of art institutions, the supervision of religious communities (including the supervision of foundations and institutions for pious and mild purposes) as well as all matters of medical and health care (including veterinary matters). After the transformation of the State Ministry in 1934 (Rbl. 1935, p. 3), the Ministry was renamed "State Ministry, Department of Education, Arts, Spiritual and Medical Affairs". With the ordinance of 6 Oct. 1941 (Rbl. 1941, p. 199), the previous departments were given the designation "Science, Education and Training". Brief description: Plieningen was probably built by the Alemanni in the 6th century AD. The local lords of Plieningen, whose dynasty died out in 1645 in the male tribe, were feudatories of the Counts of Calw in the 12th century, then of the Guelphs and finally of the Palatine Counts of Tübingen in the 13th century. 1942 the incorporation to Stuttgart took place. The sub-community of Hohenheim was first mentioned in a document around 1100. After several changes of ownership, the Katharinenhospital in Esslingen acquired the Hohenheim estate in 1432 and sold it in 1676 to the Imperial Chief Provisioning Commissioner Immanuel von Garb, who extended it as a Württemberg fief to Garbenhof. In 1768 Duke Carl Eugen moved in the court as a settled fief and gave it to Franziska von Leutrum in 1772. In 1942 Hohenheim was incorporated into Stuttgart together with Plieningen. Introduction : The ¿Law of 3 July 1934 on the Unification of the Health Sector¿ ordered the creation of health offices in urban and rural districts on 1 April 1935, in accordance with the lower administrative authority. The Health Offices were entrusted with the following tasks: health police, hereditary and race care including marriage counselling, public health education, school health care, maternal and child counselling, care for tuberculosis, sexually ill persons, physically handicapped persons, infirmity and addicts. In addition, it was planned to involve doctors in measures to promote personal hygiene and physical exercise as well as in official, court and confidential medical activities. The health offices were state institutions run by a state medical officer. The state health department in Höxter began its service on 1 May 1935. In practice, it continued the work of the district physician, who was appointed official physician and head of the state health department for the Höxter district by decree of 17 April 1935. The seat of the health office became the district hall, in which rooms for health care already existed. The official physician, who had the official rooms in his apartment as a district physician, had to perform his duties from now on in the rooms of the health office. A part of the district house was rebuilt for the health department. Before the law to unify the health care system came into force, the district physician was alone. The district employed only three caregivers, two of whom were taken over by the State Health Office. After the law came into force, the health office employed an assistant doctor, four health care nurses, an office clerk, a health supervisor, three office employees and a technical assistant in addition to the official doctor. In Beverungen, Brakel, Bad Driburg, Steinheim, Lügde and Vörden, the health authorities set up examination centres. By a joint decree of the Minister of the Interior and the Minister of Finance of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia of 27 January 1947, it was ordered that the costs of the former state health offices for the accounting year 1947 be provided for in the district budgets. This also applied to the personnel costs of the medical officers. Until the end of the accounting year 1946 on 31 March 1947, the costs of the health offices were still borne by the State Treasury. By decree of 19 March 1947, the Minister of Social Affairs of North Rhine-Westphalia ordered the districts to take over the inventory. Thus the State Health Office Höxter was transferred to the district on April 1, 1947. On 21 August 1947, the inventory was formally handed over to District Inspector Otten by the official physician Dr. Larverseder. The legal regulation took place only later. The inventory FL 300/23 I Amtsgericht Neresheim: Handels-, Genossenschafts-, Vereinsregister contains register files of the department HRA of the Amtsgericht Neresheim, which up to now have been summarized in 4 collective bundles and were recorded individually within the scope of a comprehensive indexing of register documents of the Amtsgerichte according to register numbers, as well as volumes to the Handelsregister and to the Genossenschaftsregister from the additions 2006/31, 2006/37, 2006/40. Since the jurisdiction of the court district of Neresheim - as well as that of the district court of Ellwangen (see volume FL 300/9 II) - for register matters was transferred to the district court of Aalen, the register volumes of Neresheim were archived via the district court of Aalen. The Commercial Code, which was introduced in Württemberg by the law of 13.08.1865, prescribes the maintenance of a commercial register. These provisions were clarified in the Order of 31.10.1865 on the Maintenance of Commercial Registers (Government Gazette 1865 p.448). In the commercial register the name, branch, legal form and, in the case of corporations, the amount of capital had to be entered. At first the 4 commercial courts in Stuttgart, Heilbronn, Ulm and Reutlingen kept the commercial registers, after the Württemberg judicial reform of 1868 the (higher) district courts. register of associationsThe register of associations was introduced by order of 09.11.1899 (Regierungsblatt p. 845) with the Civil Code (BGB) to 01.01.1900. The legal peculiarities of political associations (e.g. trade unions, parties) are described in the preface of F 303 III (Amtsgericht Stuttgart: Vereinsregister). As in the commercial register, the new entries in the register of associations of the Stuttgart District Court Office end in 1924. The students Kerstin Häussermann and Barbara Seiler made the title recordings. These were then sorted by commercial register number. Ludwigsburg, September 1986(Back) Note on retroconversion: This find book is a repertory that was previously only available in typewritten form, which was converted into a database-supported and thus online-capable format according to a procedure developed by the "Arbeitsgruppe Retrokonversion im Staatsarchiv Ludwigsburg". In this so-called retroconversion, the basic structure of the template and the linguistic version of the texts were basically retained. The multiple occupancy of cooperative register numbers can be explained by the fact that after the merger of all village dairy cooperatives in the greater Ulm area around 1967 into the "Milchwerke Schwaben" and the "Butterwerke Langenau", a flood of payments took place from the surrounding district courts to the newly responsible district court of Ulm. These "closed" cooperative register files were filed at the Ulm District Court under the original register numbers of the transferring offices. The holdings of the register of cooperatives contain the complete records of the first series of "Lists of Cooperatives", in which all founding members are documented. The "lists of comrades" are listed under classification point 2.3 and comprise almost 300 units (Bü 692-989). In the course of the induction work, the following documents were assessed as not worthy of archiving and collected: purely formal cooperative accession declarations and denunciations from F 308 II Access 1967 No. 270-277 in the amount of 1.2 linear metres. The sample and character registers have been preserved for special archiving purposes. Preliminary remark: At the beginning of the First World War, the German field army was divided into nine armies according to the mobilization plans, seven of which marched on the German western border, the eighth in East Prussia. The Supreme Army Command (OHL) already had to learn in the first months of the war that the original concept of the leadership - direct instructions to the army high commandos under its command - led to considerable frictional losses due to the increase in the mass of troops. Early on, army groups were set up as distinct intermediate instances of the higher leadership in order to subject the military administrative tasks to central completion in addition to the uniform conduct of operations. On 25 February 1917, the Württemberg War Ministry was given the order to set up a new army group under the supreme command of Duke Albrecht of Württemberg, the previous commander-in-chief of the 4th Army. Like the other three army groups in the West, "Crown Prince of Bavaria", "German Crown Prince" and "Gallwitz", it was intended to facilitate the organisational preparation and implementation of the major planned Western offensives. With the establishment of the Herzog Albrecht Army Group, the Army Divisions A and B operating in the southern part of the Western Front were merged with the fortresses of Metz and Strasbourg, which had previously been under the control of the German Crown Prince Army Group, and placed under the control of the new Army Group. It thus encompassed an area from the Swiss border in the south via the almost unchanged frontal course in the Sundgau and the Vosges Ridge, which had remained virtually unchanged since August 1914, along the Franco-German border to the area of Pont-à-Mousson. The command area is almost identical with the Alsace-Lorraine Reichslanden, which had been incorporated into the German Reich since 1871. Strasbourg became the seat of the High Command of the Army Group, and the head of the General Staff of the Royal Bavarian Army. Lieutenant General Krafft v. Dellmendingen, previously Commanding General of the German Alpine Corps, was appointed. From September 9, 1917, the Colonel i. G. Heye took office as his successor. The subordination of the individual units was regulated by the regulation "Subordination of the Army Forces of the West", 1917, issued by the Chief of the General Staff of the Field Army (cf. After the conclusion of the armistice agreements and the associated demobilization, the High Command of the now Army Group D moved its headquarters to Freudenstadt with a subcommand in Durlach/Karlsruhe. In the spring of 1919, both the Army Group and its descendants were finally dissolved, and the files were transferred from the Heilbronn branch of the Reich Archive to the Stuttgart branch of the Reich Archive. In September 1921, even before even a cursory list was drawn up by the military officers working there, parts of the holdings - above all the documents on the "Vaterländischen Unterricht" (fatherland instruction), on the reconnaissance of the troops and on the defence against "American propaganda" - were sent to the Reichsarchiv Potsdam, where they apparently became a pillage of flames together with the rest of the archive during the last days of World War II. In 1923 and 1924, the holdings were recorded for the first time in a list at the Reichsarchiv branch in Stuttgart.1931 large parts of the holdings were temporarily transferred to the Heeresarchiv Potsdam; however, they were not completely returned to the Heeresarchiv Stuttgart, as the Reichsarchiv branch had been called since 1936. For the holdings of the Herzog Albrecht Army Group, only the listing of the archival records from 1923/24 was available as an archival finding aid. It by no means met the requirements placed on modern archive finding aids, especially as it had become unclear and hardly usable due to numerous entries. In the months of May 1988 - March 1989, therefore, a comprehensive new indexing and first structuring of the existing archive holdings took place. Its new formation was based on the business distribution plan of the Supreme Command of the Army Group of 15 October 1917 (cf. Bü 346). Within the individual departments, a factual order was carried out by the processor. A few foreign provenances were separated and included in the corresponding holdings of the Stuttgart Military Archives. A concordance between the new order number and the old tuft number in the previous file index allows the retrieval of already cited archival documents. On the history of Army High Command 7: The deployment plan for the West Army in a future war against France in 1914 provided for the formation of a total of seven armies on the German western border. The 7th Army, whose jurisdiction extended from the Hagenau-Saarburg line to the Alsatian-Swiss border, had the task of ensuring the protection of the left flank of the Western Army and thus guaranteeing the three so-called encircling armies (1 - 3, see Schliefen Plan) corresponding lateral protection. This 7th Army, which was under the command of the General Colonels of Heeringen, was assigned the General Command of the XV AK (Strasbourg), the General Command of the XIV AK (Karlsruhe) and the General Command of the XIV Reserve Corps at fighting formations. With the exception of a few Prussian and Württemberg troops, most of which were in the 28th Reserve Division, the 55th Mixed Replacement Brigade and the 55th Landwehr Brigade, the majority of the 7th Army (in addition to the units of the XV AK) consisted of the Baden troops of the XIV AK and the XIV Reserve Corps.With these troops, in one of the first battles of the world war, Colonel General von Herringen succeeded in stopping the advance of French units on the Rhine border and throwing them back from the Alsatian plain to the Vosges ridges. the transition from the war of movement to the war of positions, combined with the accelerated exchange of troops within the various army corps and armies, blurred the clear assignability of certain units to larger units. With the calming of the Upper Alsace and Vosges Front in the winter of 1915, larger parts of the fighting Baden troops were withdrawn from the area of responsibility of the 7th Army and replaced by Landwehr formations (also Baden, but also Württemberg, Bavarian and Prussian). These units, which were deployed at almost all theatres of war in the West, generally remained under the command of the 7th Army High Command. While the army groups and army fronts were pronounced intermediate instances of the higher leadership, the "Army High Commands" as command authorities combined combat command with administrative tasks. Their army area was divided into the "operational area" and the "stage" in which the supply facilities of the army were stationed. The allocation of army troops (pioneers, transport troops and air forces) was based on the respective operational objectives and also varied in the area of the 7th Armed Forces. In 1914, however, the air force department, field airship department, telegraph department and a radio command with two heavy radio stations belonged to the "basic equipment" of every army. Inventory history: The knowledge about the original jurisdiction of the 7th Army and the troops that formed it will have been decisive for the fact that the military tradition of this large formation was not transferred to the army archive in Potsdam after the end of the First World War, but remained in the Heilbronn branch archive and later in the army archive in Stuttgart. Order and Distortion: The present inventory was recorded in 1985 by Heinrich Raab, a long-time administrator of the inventory group 456. The title recordings available on index cards were then sorted according to departments in accordance with the military business distribution plan and according to subjects within the departments. When the holdings were repackaged in acid-free archive containers, the undersigned checked and partially supplemented the title records, but the internal order of the holdings was largely retained. Formation history: The Baden artillery brigade set up on 01.07.1871 was renamed to 14th field artillery brigade on 18.07.1872. It received on 01.10.1899 the new designation 28. field artillery brigade. The field artillery regiments 14 and 50 were assigned to it, and in February 1917 the higher artillery command was reorganized. History of the club: The Badische Schwesternschaft vom Roten Kreuz is the oldest Red Cross sisterhood in Germany. Its beginnings lie in the Baden Women's Association founded in 1859 at the suggestion of Grand Duchess Luise von Baden. Its foundation was caused by the so-called "Italian War", the statutes also formulate the purpose of the association as "support of those in consequence of the threat of war or a war in emergency Gerathenen, as well as care for wounded and sick military personnel". Under the protectorate of Grand Duchess Luise, however, the association continued to exist and quickly spread throughout the Grand Duchy. Gradually, new tasks were added, such as the promotion of women's earning capacity, their domestic education, care for the poor, girls, prisoners, workers, children and health, especially tuberculosis control and infant care. The focus remained on nursing care and staff training. During the following wars, the care of wounded soldiers seemed to be in need of improvement. Systematic training in Karlsruhe, later also in Pforzheim, Mannheim and Heidelberg hospitals and the employment of nurses in peacetime ensured that sufficient trained nurses were also available in the field in the event of war, e.g. in 1870/71 and in the First World War. In 1866, at the instigation of Grand Duchess Luise, the Baden Women's Association was subordinated to the principles of the Red Cross as a department of the Geneva National Aid Association. In the same year he received his first own club clinic, since 1890 the Ludwig-Wilhelm-Krankenheim on Kaiserallee. This also served as the mother house of the sisters. The political, economic and social upheavals at the end of the First World War could not leave their mark on the Badischer Frauenverein and its nursing department, as the strong connection to the Grand-Ducal-Badischer Haus was fundamental for the association. The political turnaround made a reorientation necessary. In 1923, for example, the founding of the Pensionsversicherungsverein (Pension Insurance Association) made independent asset management possible. At the same time, Department III of the Badischer Frauenverein, which is responsible for nursing care, was given its own organisational structure as the "Motherhouse of the Sisters of the Badischer Frauenverein vom Roten Kreuz". A certain connection to the Badischer Frauenverein remained, however, as a representative of the women's association always sat on the board of the mother house. The reorganization also provided for greater participation rights for the sisters. Economic difficulties led to the lease of the maternity home to the state of Baden as a state midwife institution. The new building now required for the Sisterhood and the extension of the Luisenheim to accommodate and train the Sisters were inaugurated in 1930, the anniversary year. During the centralization of the German Red Cross in 1934, the sisters of the Baden Women's Association were also integrated into the new organization, and after the dissolution of all Red Cross associations in 1937, the Karlsruhe Sisterhood was placed under the presidency of the German Red Cross. During the Second World War it was used in various military hospitals on the western and eastern fronts. The Luisenheim, but above all the Ludwig-Wilhelm-Krankenheim and with it the mother house were badly damaged during the war and could only partly be rebuilt. After the war the future of the sisterhood was uncertain at first. Despite the dissolution of the German Red Cross by the Allies, she tried to continue the association's work as well as possible. Many areas of work in the hospitals had remained with the association and were again occupied by sisters. The nursing schools were recognised again in 1946. In 1949 the association finally received its own statutes again and was recognised as a public corporation under the name "Badische Schwesternschaft vom Roten Kreuz (Luisenschwestern) e.V.". The first priority was the reconstruction of the destroyed Luisenheim or the construction of a new mother house for the sisterhood. The Luisenheim could be occupied again until 1951. The building of the mother house, inaugurated in 1957, served as an administrative building, but also for accommodation and lessons for schoolgirls. The fields of work of the former Baden Women's Association in hospitals are still occupied today by sisters of the Baden Sisterhood. She also runs the Luisenheim as an old people's home for the sisters. To this day, the training of the new generation, the support of the active sisters in their often difficult service as well as the provision of the retired sisters belong to the main tasks of the sisterhood. History and tradition of the archive: The archive of the Baden Sisterhood of the Red Cross has a tradition that is almost as old as the Red Cross itself, since written and pictorial documents on the activities of the Baden Women's Association and its successor organisations have been kept since the association was founded. In the 70s of the 20th century, the then superior Elisabeth Leist began to sift through the traditions of her sisterhood, to separate them and to sort them out. Two collections were created, which were housed as an "archive" and a "museum" in separate rooms of the mother house. The "Archive" mainly comprised administration files compiled by Oberin Leist, as well as personal documents of individual sisters, such as testimonies or diaries, but also photographs, individual building plans and some association documents. The "Museum" of the Sisterhood essentially contained a collection of objects, mainly brooches, orders, decorations, medals, but also surgical instruments, especially wardrobe cases of individual sisters from war missions, sisterly costumes and other association documents and photographs, which were marked by the personal interests of the superior Leist and supplement files and account books of the Badischer Frauenverein as well as specifically archived files of the old registry of the Sisterhood, including personal files of the sisters. A folder with construction plans of the mother house and the Luisenheim was added to the inventory. These very different genres of archival and museum material convey a comprehensive picture of the diverse tasks of the Baden Sisterhood and its history. Order and indexing: In the summer of 2004, the archive of the Baden Sisterhood was deposited in the General State Archive in Karlsruhe, with the exception of the wardrobe trunks and sister costumes as well as some pictures that remained in the mother house of the sisterhood. With the help of a project sponsored by the Stiftung Kulturgut Baden-Württemberg, the undersigned ordered, catalogued and inventoried the entire archive over the next two years in order to make it accessible for use by third parties. A thematic order was therefore established, which is essentially oriented towards the history and organisation of the sisterhood and its predecessor organisations. Due to the large size of the archive, this could not be carried out physically, but had to be limited to the finding aid. Any still recognisable connections between traditions have been preserved as far as possible. Required separations are proven with the respective title recordings. Numerous loose leaf collections, the compilation and creation of which in many cases was no longer comprehensible, or even completely unrelated individual leaves were arranged as far as possible according to subject and combined into archive units, or already existing, suitable contexts were assigned. In the files occasionally handed down notes with handwritten comments usually originate from the superior Elisabeth Leist. If they contribute to the understanding of the documents, they were left in the files. The extensive photo collections of the holdings can be divided into four main types: pictures taken from the rooms of the mother house or framed for exhibitions, photos compiled by Oberin Leist in guide files (69 Bad. Sisterhood No. 570-614), photo albums presumably left behind by sisters (69 Bad. Sisterhood No. 615-643) and loose, predominantly disordered photographs. While the framed pictures were listed individually, the folder or album was considered the unit of distortion for the photo collections. The disordered individual photos, as far as they could not be assigned to the possession of individual sisters, were arranged thematically and indexed in groups (69 Bad. Schwesternschaft Nos. 650-655, 657-682, 684-688). Many of these photographs document the sisters' personal experiences, including those during the Second World War. The publications of the Badischer Frauenverein, the sisterhood or other Red Cross institutions contained in the archive are registered as "Verbandsschriften" according to the rules of German libraries. This chapter also contains the statutes of the Baden Sisterhood and other Red Cross institutions (such as the Association of German Motherhouses or the Sister Insurance Association). Of the large number of brooches, badges of service, orders and decorations of the sisters that still exist, only a few copies of each type could be preserved for reasons of space. Numerous commemorative medals and coins, mostly on anniversaries of the Red Cross, came as gifts, in exchange or in rare cases by purchase to the sisterhood. Their title records also contain short descriptions of the objects based on current order literature. The Depositum can be used in accordance with the rules of use of the Landesarchiv Baden-Württemberg. However, legal protection periods still have to be observed for some documents, especially for the younger personnel files of the sisterhood, which are indexed in a separate volume. Parallel transmission inside and outside the General State Archives: The archive of the Baden Sisterhood of the Red Cross complements the transmission of the Red Cross and Karlsruhe Hospitals already existing in the General State Archives. The Badische Frauenverein, which continued to exist after 1923 without a nursing department, had already handed over a large part of its files to the General State Archive in the 1930s (fonds 443: Red Cross, Badischer Frauenverein). Further information can be found in the archive of the Secret Cabinet of Grand Duchess Luise (69 Baden, Luise Cabinet), such as sources on the Federation of Red Cross Helpers. While this is represented in the tradition of the Baden Sisterhood only with a file volume, the files of the Secret Cabinet and the Baden Red Cross provide very good information about the work of the Federation until its dissolution in 1935.Further photos about the activities of the Badischer Frauenverein, many hospitals, as well as the activities of the Grand Duchess Luise, especially her visits to military hospitals during the First World War, can be found in the inventory 69 Baden, Collection 1995 F I. Also among the addresses of homage (69 Baden, Collection 1995 D) are some, partly very elaborately designed copies, which the Badischer Frauenverein with its branch associations dedicated to the Grand Ducal Baden House on various occasions. The collection 69 Baden, Collection 1995 A contains, among others, a large organigram of the Women's Association. For the development of the State Women's Hospital, which has been housed since 1923 in the building of the Wöchnerinnenheim of the Vereinsklinik Ludwig-Wilhelm-Krankenheim, see the accesses to stock 523 (State Women's Hospital Karlsruhe). Further plans of the buildings of the sisterhood can be found in the collection of the State Building Administration (424 K), which also contains archives of the Grand Ducal Court Building Office, including eleven floor plans and views of the Luisenheim built in 1902 (424 K Karlsruhe 240/1.001-1.011). These are also in 69 bath. Sisterhood no. 721 are included, but are marked here later. In 424 K there are also 218 plans of the Ludwig-Wilhelm-Krankenheim, its outbuildings and the buildings of the Städtisches Krankenhaus (Municipal Hospital) from the years 1887-1980 (under the building number 424 K Karlsruhe 078), which were built on the same area later, which show the further development. The holdings 69 Baden, Collection 1995 B, No. 55-66, finally offer eleven building plans and drafts for the Friedrichsbau building at the Ludwig-Wilhelm-Krankenheim, while the archive of the Baden Sisterhood offers only a few, above all no building plans. History of authorities and traditions: On the basis of the social legislation of the Reich, an "Insurance Institution for Invalidity and Old Age Insurance" was founded in Karlsruhe on 2 June 1890 for the Grand Duchy of Baden, which shortly afterwards received the name "Landesversicherungsanstalt Baden". Until its move to the Beiertheimer Feld, it had its headquarters in the specially erected administrative building Kaiserallee 8 (today owned by the city administration). With up to 8 of its own sanatoriums and supervision of the insurance offices (at the district offices) and higher insurance offices (Constance, Freiburg, Karlsruhe, Mannheim), the LVA became one of the most important control and monitoring bodies in the field of medical care and social insurance. During the 2nd World War the LVA was also responsible for occupied Alsace. On 1 January 2005, it was merged with the LVA Württemberg to form the LVA Baden-Württemberg with its registered office in Karlsruhe. The former Landesversicherungsamt Baden, which had already been established in 1888 as an appeal authority for controversial health insurance issues and was dissolved in 1936, is to be distinguished from the Landesversicherungsanstalt; the competences were transferred to the higher insurance offices and the social courts respectively. In the General State Archives, however, the files of these two different provenances were given the common stock signature 462. The files of the Landesversicherungsamt therefore now form the basic stock 462 and the access 1980-50 (both previously inventoried in a paper repertory), while the administrative files of the Landesversicherungsanstalt are to be found only in the present access 1994-38. In addition to personnel files and files on the Hirschlanden sanatorium (access 1992-50), all other accesses mainly consist of exemplary archived individual case files of the Landesversicherungsanstalt. Inventory history: The access was evaluated in 1994 by archive officers under the guidance of Dr. Jürgen Treffeisen and recorded by volunteers under the guidance of Dr. Peter Rückert. It reflects almost the entire administrative action of an institution under public law, both internally and externally. However, the tradition only begins densely after the First World War; for the period before that, the multiple parallel tradition of the State Insurance Office can be used in some cases. History of tradition: The Badisches Staatsministerium as the highest state authority was established in 1817. It replaced the State Council, which was formed only in 1811, and which in turn emerged from the Ministerial Conference established in 1809. The State Ministry, to which the State and other ministers and other senior officials listened, served primarily to advise the sovereign and had no legislative or administrative powers of its own. From 1820 to 1825, the Ministry of State performed additional functions for the Ministry of Justice. In the years 1871 to 1893 the abolition of the Ministry of the Grand Ducal House and Foreign Affairs brought him a clear increase in competence, which at times made him a small specialist ministry himself. 1919 after the foundation of democracy the government elected by the Landtag according to the new Baden constitution of 21 March 1919 bore the name State Ministry. The documents of the Baden State Ministry cover a period from the emergence of the Grand Duchy at the beginning of the 19th century to the immediate post-war period; in individual cases it covers the margraviate of Baden in the Old Reich and the Electorate of Baden as well as the time of the emergence of the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg. The tradition of the Baden State Ministry is indispensable for understanding the modern territorial state in the 19th century; it complements the holdings of the Baden Justice, Culture, Interior, Finance and War Ministries (holdings 234 to 138) and the Baden State Parliament (holdings 231 and 231a) in a select manner. Processing: The previous card index was retroconverted from 2013 to 2015 as part of a DFG project. Spelling and reading errors were corrected and terms and formulations modernised to make the title recordings easier to understand. Unclear or obviously incorrect signatures were corrected, duplications resolved and missing and incorrect running times added or improved in order to achieve better clarity of the holdings and simplify future searches. 1997-68 access was resolved and integrated into the holdings or the finding aid. The Order of St John, which came into being with the crusade movement at the end of the 11th century, fell victim to secularisation at the beginning of the 19th century, as did all religious institutions. The German Grand Priory in Heitersheim (in the Breisgau region) was dissolved in 1805/6 with its subordinates, including those in the new Grand Duchy of Baden and the Kingdom of Württemberg. The Brandenburg Bailiwick, which since the 14th century enjoyed a special position within the Grand Priorate of Germany strengthened by the conversion to Protestantism around 1540, was not secularised until 1811, but remained in existence in the form of an Order of Merit for persons of Protestant and Russian Orthodox denomination who deserved to serve the Prussian king, the royal house and the monarchy. In 1852 King Friedrich Wilhalm IV of Prussia restored the Ballei Brandenburg of the Order of St. John. The initiative for the revival of the Order and for the foundation of "cooperatives" in the Prussian provinces and in southern Germany also proceeded from it. The development in Württemberg was concluded in June 1858 with the award of corporate law, i.e. the status of a legal entity, to the "Cooperative of Knights of the Bailiwick Brandenburg of the Order of St John of Wuerttemberg in the Kingdom of Württemberg" residing in Stuttgart. It was joined by knights from Baden and - until the foundation of a cooperative society in the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1888 - also by Bavarian knights. There was no intention to found a cooperative of its own for Baden several times, so in 1906 the cooperative was renamed "Württembergisch-Badensche Genossenschaft des Johanniterordens". Since 1978 it has been called "Baden-Württembergische Kommende des Johanniterordens". It was originally a legal person by royal Württemberg sovereign act and is now a non-profit registered association of civil law. The Baden-Württemberg Kommende of the Order of St John is subordinated to the Ballei Brandenburg, which is subdivided into a total of 20 cooperatives or Kommende. At the head of the Order, which also includes Johanniter groups in Belgium, Austria, the USA and South Africa, is the Master of Masters, who is elected by the Chapter, the supreme decision-making body. His deputy is the governor of the order. The members of the order are classified as honorary knights, legal knights, commentators, honorary comedians or honorary members, depending on their activity or their probation. The Baden-Württemberg Kommende is headed by a "Governing Commentator", who exercises his office together with the board (convention) of the cooperative. On the knight days, which are held annually, pending questions are discussed. As tasks of the order the statute of the Ballei Brandenburg of 24.6.1853, also binding for the Württemberg cooperative, specifies above all the "defence of the Christian religion in particular of the Protestant confession", the "fight against unbelief", as well as the "service and (the) care of the sick" as tasks of the order. An expansion of the tasks took place with the statute of the Baden-Württembergische Kommende of 30 September 1978 § 2 (2): "The purpose of the association is the promotion of the general public through care and assistance for the sick, the elderly, the physically and economically weak, as well as young people and children. The Association carries out this activity in hospitals, old people's homes and other social institutions, as well as through affiliated working and auxiliary communities. In times of external and internal danger, the Association is particularly dedicated to "the wounded, the sick and other injured". In addition to their historically founded, intensive diaconal commitment, the Kommende is characterised by a pronounced cultural commitment. It is supported by three pillars: the archive, the library and the museum. The Archive of the Order has been located in the Main State Archive in Stuttgart since 1969. The Johanniter Library was founded after World War II. It contains valuable bibliophile works from six centuries, especially from the history of the order. Since 2007, the library has been housed as a deposit in the Badische Landesbibliothek Karlsruhe. The Johanniter Museum Krautheim a. d. Jagst is a joint institution of the town and the Kommende. The historical building, which was originally owned by the Order of St John and then by the Teutonic Order, now belongs to the city, the exhibits of the Kommende. The museum was opened in 1978 and was given a new appearance in 2006 on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of the city. The Commentators of the Baden-Württemberg Commentaries: 1858-1868 Frhr. Reinhard von Gemmingen-Hornberg since 1973 Knight Friedrich von Molo Content and evaluation History, order and indexing of the holdings The tradition of the Baden-Württemberg Commendary of the Order of St John is kept in the Main State Archives in Stuttgart as a deposit. For the documents received in 1969, there is already a completed find book available which was produced in 1970 by the inspector candidate Renate Pruschek. The since then existing taxes of June 1983, May 1984, August and September 1988, which were made by the Commentator of the Baden-Württembergische Kommende Friedrich Ritter von Molo and by the Hohenlohe-Zentralarchiv Neuenstein, have been combined to a partial stock and are indexed in the present find book. The recording initially took place as part of the training of the archive inspector candidates Corinna Pfisterer, Regina Keyler, Bettina Herrmann under the guidance of archive assessor Dr. Peter Schiffer from July to September 1988. From October 1988 to March 1989, archive inspector Sabine Schnell, among others, made the remaining title recordings and carried out the final work. Since the stock was recorded by several editors, it was not always possible to design the title recordings uniformly. A pre-archival order of the files is not recognizable, therefore the structure of the find book of Pruschek served as basis for the present find book. However, a modification was necessary. In order to avoid overlaps in the order numbers, order number 401 was used for the distortion of the present partial stock. In particular, the inventory contains files on the organisation and administration of the cooperative. Insights into the tasks of the cooperative are rather provided by the publications and journals received, the existing books provide information above all about the general history of the order. Personal documents of the commentators on membership and function in the Order remained in the private estates of the Hohenlohe Central Archives in Neuenstein. The listed documents have a total duration from (1714-1719) 1853 to 1987. Since the stock is property of the Johanniterorden, no cassations were made. The partial stock P 7/2 comprises 293 units with 8.3 m running time. The finding aid was created with the help of data processing on the basis of the MIDOSA program package of the State Archive Administration of Baden-Württemberg.

Preliminary remark: Following the example of the French prefect system, King Frederick created the provincial authorities foreign to the old Württemberg administrative structure through the Organization Manifesto of 1806, which he had already formed in the electoral bailiwicks of New Württemberg (1803-1806). The entire country was divided into twelve districts, each of which was made up of an equal number of high offices. Only the residential cities of Stuttgart and Ludwigsburg remained outside the districts. Each district was headed by an aristocratic district governor who, with the help of a legally educated actuary, was in charge of the supervision of the internal administration of his area of office, in contrast to the collegial principle of the New Württemberg bailiwicks. The district administration was poorly staffed and did not have exclusive jurisdiction. The district governor, a "Commissarius perpetuus" between ministries and senior officials, was in the end "not much more than a 'postman' between those offices that really govern and really administer" (Grube).with the manifesto of 27.10.In 1810, the circles were divided geographically into twelve bailiwicks (départements) of about 100,000 inhabitants each, each with a slightly different geographical classification. The names of these départements, mountains and rivers, already show the model of the French départements, which were of course much larger. The district governor was replaced by a bailiff (Grand Drossard), but his position and duties remained unchanged. The district governor or bailiff was assigned a district tax council (Landvogteisteuerrat), which supervised the accounting of the offices and official maintenance as well as the property status of the cities, offices and municipalities, and a criminal advice with special supervision authority over the prisons. He was also in charge of the bailiff's doctor (since 1814) and the road inspector. The IV edict of 18 November 1817 abolished the previous twelve bailiwicks with effect from 1 January 1818 and replaced them with a more efficient middle instance, namely four district governments with sufficient personnel. The 7th district, established by the organisational manifesto of 1806, gave its name to Rottweil. The district comprised the upper offices of Hornberg, Rottweil, Spaichingen, Stockach and Tuttlingen. In 1810 it was transformed into the "Landvogtei am oberen Neckar", again with Rottweil as its official residence. In October 1908, the government of the Schwarzwaldkreis in Reutlingen transferred the existing files to the Archive of the Interior, where Rechnungsrat Marquart prepared a summary index of the individual alliances, which was used as a valid repertory in the Ludwigsburg State Archives until spring 1964. The repackaging of the holdings, carried out in late 1963, was used as an opportunity to carry out a somewhat more detailed indexing of the individual fascicles on the basis of their old inscriptions and to separate out the numerous files from the time of the Electoral Bailiwick (1803-1806). The latter are in future to be found in stock D 7 (Kurfürstliche Landvogtei Rottweil) according to provenance. All this work was carried out under the direction of the undersigned archive employee F. Röhrich. The undersigned himself endeavoured to rearrange the stock, whereby the predominant serial character of the files - probably to be explained by the official competence of the bailiff (outlined above) - suggested a simple grouping according to categories. In order to make the scope of the individual rubrics clearer, an alphabetical order has been omitted in favour of an arrangement according to certain factual aspects. 507 tufts on 8 m. The holdings 60 (Municipal Administration/Mairie of the City of Mainz, 1798-1814) have a complicated and eventful history of order and description. In the following, an attempt will be made to list the individual stages of this inventory in chronological order. Order of the registry in the French period (1798-1814) The archives 60/113 provide information about the administration of records of the Mainz city administration 1798-1814. The first part is a list of all files and official books created or kept since the establishment of the municipal administration, which was compiled on the 25th Prairial VIII. It also contains the civil status registers, which will not be taken into account in the following, as they are listed and described in section 50. The second part was built successively in the following years until 1814. In each year a file list of the yearly created and closed files was made. The division into two is undoubtedly a consequence of the Napoleonic administrative reform of 1800 (transition from municipal administration to Mairie). Year after year, the secretariat and the offices of the municipal administration/Mairie created a file volume on certain subjects, so that a kind of subject series register was created. At the end of the year the volumes were handed over to the "Archives" (= registry). Therefore, when the list was drawn up, only the current files of Year VIII were located in the individual offices. In addition to files, a large number of official registers were kept. They played a far greater role in the French administration than in the German administration, since they served on the one hand as the administration's most important auxiliary and finding aids, but on the other hand also reproduced contents, so that the actual subject files, in which the incoming and (initially also) outgoing letters were stored, probably only rarely had to be accessed. All incoming and outgoing letters have been registered in the official records referred to here. Among them the general register "Régistre Général" is to be mentioned first as letter (entrance) diary. A number was assigned to each incoming letter in the Secretariat. The number was noted on the received letter with the addition "R.G.". In addition, a brief summary, the sender, the date of the letter and the office to which it was assigned were recorded in the General Register. Where a reply to a letter received has been drawn up or a decision taken, its number has also been recorded in the General Register. The numbers of the "normal" letters ("lettres") were replaced by "corr." (=correspondance), those of the resolutions ("arrêtés") are marked "arr. The concepts of "lettres" and "arrêtés" are attached to the respective subject file volumes only until Vendémiaire VII/September 1798 (applies to Lettres) or until the end of Year VII beginning of Year VIII/October 1799 (applies to Arrêtés). In addition, they were recorded in fair copy in two other series of official registers also kept by the Secretariat, the Correspondence and Advisory Register. On this basis, the numbering of "lettres" and "arrêtés" already mentioned was also carried out. The letter received to which an outgoing letter referred can be seen on the one hand in the Registre Général and on the other hand in the letter received itself, on which, in addition to the 'R.G.' number, the 'Arr.-' number also appears. or "Corr." No. was noted. The Mairie continued to keep the General Register and the "répertoire", a kind of subject register, but decided not to keep the resolution and correspondence registers. This made the concepts of "lettres" and "arrêtés" the only evidence of the letters and regulations issued. In order to keep track of them, their drafts could no longer be filed in the subject file volumes together with the letters received in response to which they were initiated, but had to be organised separately. The concepts of the outgoing letters were thus numbered consecutively from September 1798 and October 1799 (see above) and formed two series in which the drafts of the "lettres" and "arrêtés" were filed chronologically and (mostly) summarised monthly. If one follows 60/113, a further change occurred with the establishment of the Mairie: The secretariat/police office and Bien Public office files are kept by the secretariat, while the financial office still seems to have its own registry. The files created and kept at the secretariat are usually stored in beige paper sheets - often printed forms that have been turned over. Until the year XI, the respective subject series file was held together with a glued-on paper strip, which was provided with the file title. They've been numbered since year X. There are about 60 subjects for the secretariat, whereby the number fluctuates, since new subjects were added from case to case or older subjects were omitted, thus there were series splits or series associations, over which 60/113 offers a good overview. The subject files of a year were most likely bundled and stored in these bundles (inscription: year) in the old registry/archive. Probably for this reason, part of the "French Archive" was only grouped together in file aprons before the new indexing. The Commissioner of the Executive Board of the Municipal Administration apparently also had his own registry. Subject files were also created for him. The files shall be numbered after the title of each file, preceded by the abbreviation "No." . Their duration often exceeds one year, often covers years VI to VIII and thus the entire term of office of the Commissioner. Also on the documents of these files one finds numbers of a general register, so that it can be assumed that the commissioner of the executive directorate had its own general register and thus its own document administration (a kind of own secretariat). The holdings also include files from the provenance of the Administrative Commission of the School Fund, which were left in the holdings because of their proximity to the city administration. In the case of these files, there was no longer a recognizable order of files or registries. The files of the negotiations of the municipal council are wrapped in blue cardboard and were apparently kept separately from the other files of the administration. Some files of the collection, especially those concerning accounting, are wrapped in light blue cardboard and have German lettering. Also the formulation of the titles of the acts indicates that they were written in Hessian time (after 1815). There is much to suggest that these were files that were needed by the city administration during the Hessian period. This, of course, required a review of the French files. At the beginning of the 20th century (around 1920?), the librarian Heinrich Heidenheimer presumably attempted to dissolve the old subject files, which had been laid out on a year-by-year basis, and to merge them according to new subject matters. From the documents which were not (or could not be?) assigned to a "large" subject, he tried to create individual files. Not affected by this reorganization were the official books, the Arrêtés and Lettres series, and (probably) 23 bundles, which only remained ordered by year. The result of this attempt at classification is documented in the old register "Französisches Archiv - Bestand 60". The bundles in which the new subjects were grouped were numbered from 1-148 (one number per subject, so several bundles could have the same number if the subject was supposed to be the same). In part, however, a number did not conceal a reference file, but rather a very thin - already mentioned - single case file containing only a few sheets or even only one printed matter. The number of this file was mostly completed with a Roman "II". At the time of the redrawing, the individual case files were often located within the beige file apron in orange, strongly acidic folders (60s?) with filler lettering. Inside the other file aprons, envelopes made of crumbled packing paper with a high acid content, which could date from around 1920, were used to structure the documents. These envelopes were often labelled with only one year and were irrelevant for the context of the file. Only summarily (without signature or numbering) are listed in the directory - as mentioned - Lettres and Arrêtés, official books, military matters, matters concerning the inhabitants, accounting (also printed matter), taxes (also printed matter), the port and schools/lessons. Eight bundles were only labeled with letters and sorted alphabetically. According to the register, these were "requests to the administration, sorted by personal names (e.g. passports)". This series, too, was first created at the beginning of the 20th century by the order works. An example of how it was done: In a bundle with the old signature 138 (138-subjects: medical police/138,1; midwives/138,2; vaccination/138,3; medicine/138,4 and 138,5) there were ONLY old file covers with the following titles and registry signatures: IX/...X/14, XI/14 : Police medicinale XI/12: Police medicinale, vaccine, Maison d'accouchement, pharmacie XII/14: Police médicinale, vaccine, accouchement XIII/14, XIV/15: Police médicinale, pharmacie, vaccine, accouchement, épidémie, épizootie, glacière 1807-1812/13, 1814/13: Police médicinale, pharmacie, vaccine, accouchement, épidémie, épizootie, enfants trouvés, glacière, quinquina The original subject files were thus dissolved according to the new subjects 138,1-138,5, the original file covers were separated. (In other cases, the file covers also remained in part of the closed file.) Where the documents on livestock epidemics, foundlings and glaciers remained is not apparent at first. Unfortunately, it must be noted that the content of the parts of the file which were among the various subjects did not always correspond to those subjects! It is probable that the "annual bundles" still found at the time of the new listing should also be dissolved. The order within these bundles was chaotic. This disorder has either already existed in the French old registry (the disordered documents would then never have been assigned to a subject file...) or has arisen from the attempts of archivists to organize them. Or both "procedures" come together. The main subjects in the unresolved annual bundles were: "Police civile en générale", "Affaires mixtes", "Certificat, renseignements sur des individus, "Pièces à communiquer", "Publication ...". These are therefore precisely those subjects which can hardly be assigned to other "large" subjects and which were probably not of great importance for the administration at the time either, so that no great attention and working time will have been devoted to the sorting of these documents. It is likely that archivists wanted to use these documents to create the alphabetical series "Requests to the administration, sorted by personal names (e.g. passports)". Ordnungs- und Verzeichnungsarbeiten Heiner Stauder (1991-1995) Heiner Stauder began in 1991 with the order and indexing of the official book series. After the completion of this work, the drawing of the militaria was started. Various attempts at order and sorting (registration of all numbers of the Registre Général; dissolution of the Lettres and Arrêtés series and assignment to the corresponding letters received; dissolution of individual subject series, including "service militaire", "police militaire", "affaires militaires"; formation of individual case files for submission) proved to be impracticable. The listing of the "Militaria" was interrupted in order to prefer the listing to the "Medicinalia" due to user requests. The following signatures were assigned: 001-136: Amtsbücher 150-186: Militaria 201-215: Bürgerannahmen (They were arranged alphabetically by Mr. Tautorat around 1991/92 and then entered in a card index of names, which is located in the finding aid cabinet of the user room). 300-349: Documents and series, mainly health and poor affairs concerning 350-508: "arrêtés"; 509-703: "lettres"; the no. 350-703 were recorded by Mr. Jung in autumn 1995. The development of a printed matter collection for the French period according to the model of the Landesherrlichen Verordnungssammlung (LVO) was started by leaving only one copy of printed ordinances or news, as far as they were present several times in the file volume, in the file. The rest have been separated. The documents of the Mainzer Veteranenverein found in the "French Archive" were spun off and assigned to the corresponding estate. Mr. Stauder also began with the separation of individual documents, which were only to be assigned to a file bundle after completion of the recording, and with the dissolution of the old FA60 bundles according to subject matter. The author has also continued his recording of subtitles and alto and registry signatures (see below). After the described experiences and on the basis of the peculiarities of the found stock, the author renounced to form (new) series - however it may have been - or to restore the old registry order - also only in rudimentary form. Instead, a numerus currens distortion was performed on the basis of the found condition. The merging of units that belonged together in terms of content thus took place only after the title listings had been completed - on the basis of the classification and the three - very detailed - indices. The subject file bundles listed in the old directory FA 60 were dissolved, since the file aprons contained a wide variety of subjects, which were often only roughly summarized under one catchword. The bundles were reviewed, units with related contents within the bundles - some of them still in the original file covers of the registry - were left together and newly recorded (the old archive signature is of course always indicated). The still unrecorded militaria had already been pre-ordered by Mr. Stauder and reassembled according to the facts. The signatures 269-273 and 284-285 were made by him, left so by me and listed. Individual documents within the various bundles, which differed completely in content from the otherwise found subjects, were first separated and, after completion of the indexing process, added to the archives to which they fitted in terms of content. The old small files, the individual files mentioned above, were left as they were and re-inserted. The bundles, which were only marked with a year (probably part of the original old registration), were also dissolved according to subject matter. Recognisable units (e.g. through labelled file envelopes) were of course retained. If possible, documents that had not been (pre-)sorted were either newly created according to subject (e.g. Militaria, Year VI) or first separated and, after completion of the indexing, added to suitable archival records. In total, the stock now comprises 60 1308 units of description or serial numbers. The last current number is 1319. The numbers 140-148, 882 and 944 were not assigned. Subtitles and registry signatures Subtitles are located in brackets below the titles of the files I have assigned. They are usually the original French title(s) of the subject file(s) found on an old envelope within the newly recorded archives. It is only indicated if there is such an original envelope in the file and if the title also matches the content of the documents it contains. Due to the old order work before 1991, the original connections were torn apart - as described above - so that the original file covers only remained in part of the original files, were separated or reappeared in completely different contexts. If it was clearly visible that only part of the original subject file was present in or near the original file cover, only the applicable part of the original file title is also indicated as a subtitle. On the original file covers, in most cases the year and the number from the list of subject series registries were indicated in addition to the file title (for example as year "an 14", as number "21", as title "Corps de metier"). As far as such a file cover was available and fitted to the content or partial content of the newly recorded archive, this registry signature was indicated as follows: XIV/21 (XIV for the year 14 of the French Republic, 21 for the number from 60/113). For years VI to IX, the year and the "heading" under which the subject in 60/113 is to be found have been indicated, where recognisable. The files more frequently contained a large number of documents from the Electoral period. If it was evident that these were pre-files to the events of the French period, they were left in the archives. If no connection was discernible, the events were passed on to Dr. Dobras for classification in electoral holdings. Nachprovenienzen The Lettres series does not end with the end of French rule in Mainz and the handover of the town to German troops on 4 May 1814, but continues until the end of 1814. For this reason, all files of the year 1814 under Lord Mayor Freiherr von Jungenfeld were left in this inventory, since the registry was at least partly continued for so long according to the French model. Preliminary remark: The inventory FL 300/5 II Local Court Böblingen: Commercial, cooperative and association registers mainly contain register documents that were originally part of the FL 300/5 I District Court of Böblingen. Initially, a distinction was made between sole proprietorships and partnership companies. In some dishes these have been marked with the letters E or HRE and G or HRG. Since this was not customary at the Böblingen District Court, the designations in the classification were placed in brackets, (E) and (G). The younger class bears the usual designations HRA and HRB. Note for use: In the case of register documents, there is a 30-year blocking period for the main files, while the special files clearly visible as such ("special volumes") are freely accessible. In 2009, the title recordings for the files were made by Sirin Özet under the direction of Ute Bitz, head of the archive office, who was also responsible for the indexing of the volumes. History of the authorities: The territorial reorganization of Germany by Napoleon almost doubled the territory of the former margraviate of Baden between 1803 and 1810. In 1803 it was elevated to the status of electorate and in 1806 to that of grand duchy. This made it necessary to restructure and standardize the administrative structures of the administratively heterogeneous state. The organizational edicts issued between 1806 and 1809 divided the Grand Duchy of Baden into 66 provincial and 53 municipal offices. The offices of the rank were abolished until 1849 or converted into the offices of the sovereign. The number of district offices in Baden was significantly reduced by mergers and abolitions in the course of the 19th and 20th centuries.Originally, the district offices were purely state authorities and as such were primarily responsible for general state administration and for state supervision of the activities of municipal administrations in their respective districts, but they were also responsible for the police and - until the establishment of their own court organisation in 1857 - the judiciary, in particular civil justice. The Bonndorf office belonged to the Donaukreis, from 1819 to the Seekreis. In 1813, several communities of the dissolved Bettmaringen office were assigned to the Bonndorf district. The administrative reform of 1832 replaced the meanwhile remaining six district directorates as central authorities by the district governments of four districts and assigned the administrative district Bonndorf to the Seekreis. In 1864 the four districts were dissolved and the district offices directly subordinated to the Ministry of the Interior. At the same time, the Grand Duchy of Bonndorf was divided into eleven district associations as local self-governing bodies without state responsibilities, with the district of Bonndorf becoming part of the Waldshut district. The district offices and district associations were combined into four state commissioner districts for the purpose of handling state administrative supervision. At their head was a state commissioner with a seat and vote in the Grand Ducal Ministry of the Interior. The district office Bonndorf was assigned to the state commissioner district Konstanz. The Bonndorf district office was abolished in 1924 in the course of simplifying the internal administration and the municipalities were assigned to the districts of Neustadt and Waldshut. In the process, foreign provenances with a term ending after 1806 and before 1936 were taken and assigned to other holdings of the Freiburg State Archives according to their provenance. Files with a term ending before 1806 were separated and handed over to the General State Archive Karlsruhe for reasons of competence. In justified exceptional cases, e.g. when the proportion of documents originating before 1806 in a file was limited to a few documents, files with a term before 1806 were also included in B 692/1 (new). The signature last used in the Freiburg State Archives before the new indexing is found under Presignature 1 and the signature formerly used in the Karlsruhe General State Archives under Presignature 2. Printing regulations: Printing regulations are general regulations governing the performance of certain military services. Since the 19th century, war ministries and military command and administration agencies have increasingly issued official regulations in printed form. After 1870, these printing regulations were updated in the form of so-called cover pages, which were to be glued into the individual volumes or transferred by hand. Since the eighties of the 19th century, a distinction has been made between budget and non-budgetary printing regulations. The statutory printing regulations had a printing regulations budget number (D.V.E. No.) and were indexed by a "Register of statutory printing regulations". The distribution of the budget pressure regulations to the military authorities and units was regulated by the "budget pressure regulations". Inventory history: The statutory print regulations collected in this inventory originate from different provenances and were recorded on the basis of the list of statutory print regulations of 21.12.1911 (cf. GLA 456 F 153, No. 2). A very detailed inventory history is contained in the preface of the Deputy General Command of the XIV Army Corps (inventory 456 F 8). The inventory comprises 525 fascicles with a circumference of 3.70 running metres. To the individual register types: Trade registerAfter the Württ. Gewerbeordnungen of 1828 and 1862 a trade enterprise had to be indicated to the community leader. The Commercial Code, which was introduced in Württemberg in 1865, prescribes the keeping of a commercial register. These provisions are specified in the decree on the keeping of commercial registers dated 31.10.1865 (Reg.blatt p. 448/1865). The 4 commercial courts in Stuttgart, Heilbronn, Reutlingen and Ulm were originally responsible for keeping the commercial registers. In the course of the dignified judicial reform in 1868, the (higher) district courts took over the task (Reg.blatt p. 73/1868). In the meantime, each district court no longer maintains its own commercial register, but rather individual district courts are responsible for several districts. For the district court district of Cannstatt, the commercial and cooperative register has been kept since 1924 by the district court of Stuttgart (F 303 II, FL 300/31 II). register of associationsThe introduction of the register of associations was decided by the Bundesrat in 1898, together with the BGB it was then introduced on 1 January 1900. By the entry into the register of associations an association now attained legal capacity (§ 21 BGB). In the past, the status of a legal person had to be conferred by the king for each individual association. With regard to the legal characteristics of political associations (e.g. political parties, trade unions), reference is made to the foreword of F 303 III (Stuttgart District Court, Register of Associations). In distinction to the Commercial Register, the Register of Associations was also continued after 1924 by the Cannstatt District Court (from 1924: Stuttgart District Court II). These provisions were introduced in Württemberg in 1871 (Reg.blatt p. 92). The Reichsgesetz of 1.5.1889 stipulated a separation of commercial and cooperative registers and thus introduced its own cooperative registers. Until 1924, the register of cooperatives was kept independently by the district court of Cannstatt and subsequently by the district court of Stuttgart I. The register of matrimonial property rights regulates the matrimonial property rights of married couples and was introduced together with the BGB on 1.1.1900. Cannstatt County Court District: Until 1905 it was identical with the Cannstatt Oberamt, after which the municipalities of Cannstatt, Untertürkheim and Wangen remained with the district court district of Cannstatt despite their incorporation into Stuttgart. In the course of the processing of the register files of the District Court Stuttgart in July 1986, the provenance of the District Court Cannstatt was separated from the holdings F 303 I and FL 300/31 and newly formed to the holdings F 260 II. The Werkschülerinnen Kathrin Gude and Barbara Seiler made the title recordings. Since the register numbers were kept consecutively, it seemed reasonable to leave the files in the F inventory after 1945 as well. Ludwigsburg, September 1986 (Back) Note on retroconversion: This find book is a repertory that was previously only available in typewritten form, which was converted into a database-supported and thus online-capable format according to a procedure developed by the "Retroconversion Working Group in the Ludwigsburg State Archives". In this so-called retroconversion, the basic structure of the template and the linguistic version of the texts were basically retained. However, the classification scheme was adapted and the files were sorted in ascending order according to the register number in accordance with the project "Erschließung der Handels-, Genossenschafts- und Vereinsregister der Amtsgerichte" (Development of the Commercial, Cooperative and Association Registers of Local Courts), which has been in operation since 2008. History of tradition History of the authorities Born from the idea of enlightenment and the doctrine of humanity, the social situation of the peasantry, to which the majority of the population belonged, was also to be raised in Hohenzollern. Thaer's teaching on more rational cultivation and the chemical research results of Justus von Liebig in agriculture and animal nutrition made it possible to put this endeavour to intensify agriculture into practice. In Hohenzollern, the "backward peasants" were officially taken care of, and they joined together in agricultural associations. The spread of the liberalist idea - to generate profit and spend more money on the mechanization of agriculture - made it necessary to unite the peasants. The farmer should not cultivate the field by hand alone, he should manage his farm as a business economist with consideration and calculation and thus he was made in those days from farmer to farmer. In 1841, the farmers' associations that had opened up in the Principality of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen merged to form the "Verein zur Beförderung der Landwirtschaft und Gewerbe in Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen". By sovereign decree of 02 April 1841 (Collection of Laws Principality of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen Vol. VI, p. 14) the statutes of the association became legally binding. The purpose of the association was: "For the purpose of the revival and spreading of the agricultural and commercial industry and for the promotion of economic prosperity in general". His main tasks were: Arable farming, meadow farming, fruit growing, horticulture, forestry and livestock breeding. Furthermore, the association tried to find the trades that had the closest connection to the agricultural enterprises, such as breweries and distilleries. On the other hand, it promoted non-profit economic institutions and enterprises, such as community baking ovens, etc. A central office of the Association for Agriculture and Trade was established as a link between the government and the farming community. Three district offices stood under this central office as the actual executive and effective organs. The district of the first district office comprised the offices of Sigmaringen, Ostrach, Wald and Achberg. The second district included the offices of Gammertingen, Strassberg and Trochtelfingen, while the third district was established for the offices of Haigerloch and Glatt. The said statute of 02.04.1841 determines in § 4 ff. the composition and the tasks of the central office. The central office, as the leading authority of the whole, has its seat in Sigmaringen and consists of at least 9 members to be appointed by the Reigning Prince for a period of 3 years each, from which the Board and its deputies are appointed by equal appointment. The central office was the organ through which, on the one hand, the government negotiated with the district associations. On the other hand, requests, requests from clubs to the government. After the Hohenz. Land in the Kingdom of Prussia had merged, the association revived in 1852. By order of the royal Prussian government to Sigmaringen of 18.08.1853 the association was extended on whole Hohenzollern. In the Principality of Hohenzollern-Hechingen only private agricultural associations existed until 1848, which were financially supported by the sovereign. When the new association was founded, the management of the entire association remained in the hands of the central office. It consisted of elected and appointed members. After the new company was founded, the central office was divided into a department for agriculture and forestry and a department for trade and industry. With the expansion of the association to the whole of Hohenzollern, a new division of territory had become necessary and a new district association was founded for the district of Hechingen. The Strassberg Upper Administrative District was separated from the second Gammertingen-Trochtelfingen District Association and assigned to the Sigmaringen-Wald-Ostrach Upper Administrative District Association. Further district associations were formed in 1872, 1873 and 1875 for the district of the former Glatt upper office, for the Achberg municipal district and for the Ostrach upper office district with the municipalities Kalkreute, Habsthal and Rosna. The association as a whole used the "Mitteilungen zur Beförderung der Landwirtschaft und der Gewerbe" (Mitteilungen zur Beförderung der Landwirtschaft und der Gewerbe, published since 1841) as a publication medium. In addition, annual "annual reports" of the association followed. The central office of the Association for Agriculture and Trade was replaced by the Chamber of Agriculture. In order to safeguard the overall interests of agriculture and forestry, a chamber was also established in Hohenzollern on the basis of the Prussian Law on the Chambers of Agriculture of 30.06.1894, by ordinance of 06.03.1922 (G.S. p. 55). These agricultural chambers were replaced in 1933 by the "Reichsnährstand" and were only rebuilt after the collapse in 1946. The files of the "Zentralstelle des Vereins für Landwirtschaft und Gewerbe in Hohenzollern" (Central Office of the Association for Agriculture and Trade in Hohenzollern) remained as old registry with the following authorities. It was not until 1950 that the files, insofar as they still existed, were taken over by the Sigmaringen State Archives (Acc. Jour. 1950 No. 10) and set up as holdings Ho 420 "Zentralstelle des Vereins für Landwirtschaf und Gewerbe in Hohenzollern". This list was drawn up according to the old registry signatures. Due to a lack of numbers in the individual subject areas, the files concerned are often housed in the following subject area. The "Zentralstelle" also had an extensive specialist library. We have an exact list of the books from 1876 in the catalogue published by H. Grube in 1877. The library was fragmented after the political collapse in 1945. In 1951, the holdings were sorted, repertorised and packaged and magazined by K. Herzog, an employee of the State Archives. In the course of the standardization of the repertory writings of the State Archives, the repertory, which was still written by hand in 1951, was revised by Government Inspector Kungl and the fair copy was brought into its current form by the employee Mrs. Kalkuhl. History of the authorities: The territorial reorganization of Germany by Napoleon brought the former margraviate of Baden between 1803 and 1810 almost a doubling of its territory and an enormous expansion of its population, as well as in 1803 the elevation first to electorate and in 1806 finally to grand duchy. This increase in the size of the country and its people made it imperative that the heterogeneous political system be restructured and unified in administrative terms. The organizational edicts issued between 1806 and 1809 served the realization of this goal. In addition to the Privy Council and Deputy Minister Johann Nicolaus Friedrich Brauer (1754 - 1813), the Baden State and Cabinet Minister Sigismund von Reitzenstein (1766 - 1847) was above all responsible for the administrative reorganization and modernization of the Grand Duchy. The Organisational Edict of 26 October 1809 divided the Grand Duchy of Baden into 66 sovereign and 53 ranked offices. The offices of the rank were gradually abolished, the last in 1849, after the final renunciation of their sovereign rights by the rank masters. In the case of the provincial district offices and upper offices, mergers and dissolutions within the framework of organisational changes led to a reduction in the total number of administrative structures in 1936/1938 from originally 66 to 27 after the changes ordered in the administrative structures during the National Socialist era. Finally, the Law on the Organization of Internal Administration of October 5, 1863 abolished the district governments without substitution as the medium instances of state administration and subordinated the district offices directly to the Ministry of Interior. As a link between local and central authorities, the law of 1863 (amended 1865) installed four state commissionariats, namely Konstanz, Freiburg, Karlsruhe and Mannheim, each of which was headed by a state commissioner with a seat and vote in the ministry. The Constance District Office was assigned to the Sprengel of the Constance State Commissariat. In 1864, the Grand Duchy of Baden was divided into eleven district associations as local self-governing bodies without state tasks, retaining the district offices and state commissionariats as state administrative authorities. The Konstanz district association, based in Konstanz, comprised the state administrative districts of Engen, Konstanz, Meßkirch, Pfullendorf, Radolfzell (abolished in 1872), Stockach and Überlingen. The Executive Board of the Constance District Office was also the District Governor of the Constance District Association. The corporate body of the district association was the district assembly of elected members. The Kreisverband Konstanz is thus the actual "ancestor" of the Landkreis Konstanz as a local self-governing body. 1924 the name of the executive committee of the district had already been changed to Landrat. By the county regulation of 24 June 1939 the 1864 established county federations were abolished and replaced by counties. In the Nazi dictatorship, however, their formally maintained powers of self-administration were only on paper, since the decision-making and decision-making powers were transferred from the district assembly to the district chairman appointed by the Ministry of the Interior, who was assisted by three to six district councils only in an advisory capacity. The area and authority of the new administrative district of Constance as a municipal self-governing body was now congruent with the administrative district of the state administration. The present inventory A 42/1 - Staatsanwaltschaft Konstanz comprises the documents of the Staatsanwaltschaft Konstanz which were handed over to the Staatsarchiv Freiburg in 1985/73. Preliminary remark: The inventory FL 300/10 IV district court Esslingen: The Commercial, Cooperative and Associations Register was reformed as part of a systematic spin-off of register documents from the Local Court holdings, which was started in 2008, in order to create pure register holdings. It contains documents on the registration jurisdiction of the district court Esslingen, which so far in inventory FL 300/10 IV were registered only in tax lists and from the additions 1989, 1999/076, 2002/002, 2003/059, 2005/058, 2006/045 and 2006/070 originate. The volumes on the Trade and Cooperative Register as well as lists of cooperatives were sent to the State Archives with access 2013/025, the volumes on the Muster- und Zeichenregister, the Vereinsregister as well as evaluated Vereinsregister files with access 2014/060. For the use of trade and cooperative register files of the district court district of Esslingen, please refer to fonds F 264 II. In this inventory, the older register tradition is recorded under the abbreviation "HRG", i.e. both the company firms and the individual firms since the beginning of the commercial register in 1866. Also the companies with the first numbers of the series HRA and HRB after 1938 are in stock F 264 II. Since the F 264 II finding aid register was made available in an online version as part of the retroconversion, the time-consuming spin-off of this older register version was dispensed with. Since January 1, 2007, the Central Register Court in Stuttgart has been responsible for the commercial and cooperative register; this has also been accompanied by the conversion to the electronic register. Since 01.01.2014 also the register of associations is centralized there. To the individual register types: The inventory contains files, volumes and other documents (name lists, minutes) to the trade, cooperative, and association register. The commercial register files were named HRA (sole traders and partnerships) and HRB (corporations) according to the distinction customary today. The present volumes are divided into two time layers. From the establishment of the Commercial Register in 1866 until 1938, a distinction was made between sole proprietorships (designation E) and corporate proprietorships (designation G). In 1938, the current designations HRA and HRB were introduced.
