As an advisory and decisive central body, the Council and the Senate support him in the management of the university. The archives of the Rectorate thus contain the most important management decisions and processes at the University of Rostock and the central sources for the documentation of the history of this university. The written records of the university management from the period 1900-1945 document the drastic historical events as well as the social and political changes, which are reflected in the first half of the century also in the Rostock university history. For example, the beginning of women's studies in 1909, the First World War and the university jubilee in 1919, as well as the disputes over a new statute were reflected in the rector's files. The collection also documents conservative traditions and critical tendencies such as the introduction of the Führer Principle, the exclusion of Jewish academics, the university's collaboration with Ernst Heinkel, and the National Socialists' standardization of education. Finally, the sources reflect the devastating effects of the Second World War. The rectorate holdings 1900-1945 are connected to the old rectorate holdings 1419-1900. Presumably after the completion of the order and the drawing up of the older files, an attempt was made here to archive the newer files from 1900 onwards according to a file plan. The signatures consist of a combination of numbers and letters. However, not all items of the newly introduced file plan had been the subject of written records, and for some subjects numerous volumes had been produced under a single signature. As a result, gaps in the course of the signatures had to be accepted in the new order and distortion of the inventory in the 1990s. Wherever possible, the traditional numbering was retained or restored, but in some cases also extended. For the use of the rectorate holdings 1419-1900 and 1900-1945, it must be noted that no systematic inventory delimitation was carried out here. Numerous older files have been included in the newer rectorate holdings and numerous newer files in the older ones. In the case of gaps in the period from about 1830 onwards, it is advisable to research the newer holdings as well, since complete processes on some topics were taken from the old holdings and merged with the newer files. All files on relations with other German universities are, for example, completely preserved in the Rectorate holdings 1900-1945. While the archives of the First World War and the university anniversary can be found in the rectorate's holdings before 1900.           1) Starting position for the archival preservation of files at the AOK regional offices in Westphalia-Lippe: In the course of a comprehensive change in the organisational and self-administration structures of the Allgemeine Ortskrankenkassen in the mid-1990s, it became clear in the archival expert discussion that the AOK sources represent an important and comprehensive reflection of economic and socio-historical structures at regional level. The regional relevance of the tradition is derived from the historical development of the general local health insurance funds: At the end of the 19th century, the funds were established at the local level of the municipalities and in the course of time adapted to the administrative structure of the districts or cities by merging funds. In this respect, the formation of traditions by municipal archives within the framework of their responsibility for the documentation of local/regional living environments is an obvious conclusion. This approach has been taken up by the LWL Archive Office for Westphalia, which played a mediating role between the Westphalian municipal archives and the AOK Westphalia-Lippe in the implementation of the archival preservation of the historical records located in the AOK regional directorates. As a result, negotiations were conducted between the Central Directorate of the AOK Westfalen-Lippe in Dortmund for the AOK Regional Directorates subordinated to the Central Directorate and the LWL Archive Office for Westphalia in Münster for the participating municipal archives on the archiving of regional AOK sources. 2. cooperation between the AOK Westfalen-Lippe, the LWL-Archivamt and the Kommunalarchiven for the archiving of AOK-files: After the first talks on the archiving of AOK files had taken place in 2002, it finally took until April 2008 before a cooperation agreement could be concluded between the LWL Archive Office for Westphalia and the AOK Westfalen-Lippe on the "Archival indexing of the core records located in the regional offices of the AOK Westfalen-Lippe up to the key year 1994". This agreement regulates in principle the safeguarding of the historical core tradition of the Allgemeine Ortskrankenkassen in Westfalen-Lippe and their predecessor institutions, which were independent up to the cut-off year 1994. It includes the evaluation, transfer and indexing of the relevant source material by the LWL-Archivamt für Westfalen and the subsequent decentralized storage and utilization in the regionally responsible municipal archives after the archiving processes. The allocation of the individual AOK holdings to the municipal archives is based on the organisational structure of the Allgemeine Ortskrankenkassen before the fundamental restructuring through the merger into the AOK Westfalen-Lippe in 1994. 27 municipal archives function as target archives for the 27 independent Allgemeine Ortskrankenkassen in Westfalen-Lippe which existed until the beginning of 1994. 3. taking over and indexing the archival core records of the AOK Dortmund and its predecessors: The separation of the archival documents of the AOK Dortmund and its predecessor institutions took place at the Regional Directorate Bochum/Dortmund/Herne in the Dortmund office on 17 and 18 April as well as on 5 October and 23 November 2009. The transmission of the minutes of the AOK Dortmund makes a relatively closed impression overall. Of the predecessor institutions, only the records of the AOK Hörde from 1909 - 1920 and the records of the Special Local Health Insurance Fund for the Restaurant and Pub Industry from 1893 - 1933 are documented. In the area of social elections, with the exception of the 1974 elections, documents on all elections are available. The articles of association have been handed down since 1899. The documentation of the financial administration of the Fund began in 1903. A special feature of the AOK Dortmund was a closed file layer from the 1st half of the 20th century to the end of the 1950s. These files were evaluated on site together with the responsible archivists of the Stadtarchiv Dortmund and added to the core collection. In terms of content, the files deal with the Fund's contribution and benefit system, relationships with other insurance providers and the numerous AOK Dortmund's own operations. Furthermore there are protocols of the BKK of the Schüchtermann in the stock.

          Inventory description: Dept. 18 Bauordnungsamt Scope: 1129 VE (= 197 archive cartons and Überform, 32 lfm = status 14.4.2014) Duration: 1840 - 1990 (above all 1900 - 1950) I. For the development of the building administration Due to the considerable increase in municipal building activity, an independent building and civil engineering office was set up in 1891 in place of the previous city building authority by resolution of the city council assembly, with the building police being located at the building authority. From 1899/1900 the offices were again combined as the Stadtbauamt (Stadtbauamt) (under master builder Georg Metzler, from 1910 Hermann Hüther) with further personnel reinforcement, whereby the following departments existed (essentially until 1939): - canal and road construction; - harbour constructions; - building police and building maintenance; - new construction; - surveying office; - horse husbandry/street cleaning/garbage removal; - municipal nursery; - registry/office. In 1939, after a division of the city planning office, there were three separate offices - building police; - municipal building police (with the building police under the direction of the city planning council (since 1933) Walter Köhler, the latter also included the city nursery); - municipal civil engineering office including street cleaning and surveying office (director: city planning council Hüther). The division of the department in spring 1946 provided for a building department (department head: Hanns Schmitt). After the retirement of Walter Köhler (1890-1977) in 1956, the management of the building administration was transferred to Listmann. At that time it comprised - the building administration office (including the rent authority); - the office for town planning and building supervision; - the building construction office; - the civil engineering office; - the surveying office; - the garden office. Since then, the building administration has been reorganised several times, most recently comprehensively at the beginning of 1998 with the establishment of a building authority from the merger of various building authorities and the establishment of a building maintenance and administration company. II. structure and content The department set up in 1996 in the course of relocations is composed of the file deliveries of the Building Code Office (63) in connection with the demolition of private residential and commercial (non-urban) buildings. The material came into the city archives mainly in the context of a large takeover on 10.02.1993, further by smaller levies. These are mainly building police approval procedures (individual case files) of the city planning office or city building department, which are laid out according to streets or companies. The length and scope of the project, as well as the uniformity and peculiarity of the file management, which stretched far back beyond the caesura of 1945, made it sensible to set it up as a separate department. The content includes numerous files on important industrial companies in Worms, including Cornelius Heyl AG, Lederwerke Doerr, and others.

          Find aids: Find book from 1951 (online searchable) Registraturbilddner: Deersheim belongs to the city of Osterwieck, Lkr. Harz, Saxony-Anhalt. In the late Middle Ages, Deersheim belonged to the Halberstadt monastery, which fell to the Electors of Brandenburg in 1650 as the principality of Halberstadt, and in 1816 was absorbed into the Prussian province of Saxony, which existed until 1945. Rechte in Deersheim also owned the Westerburg office. The Westerburg was already awarded in 1180 by the bishops of Halberstadt to the Counts of Regenstein. After the extinction of the Regensteiner in 1599, the dukes of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel inherited the office of Westerburg, but the Elector of Brandenburg was able to move in the fief as Prince of Halberstadt in 1670. The von Gustedt family was probably already resident in the parish of Deersheim and neighbouring Bexheim in 1406. In 1538 Cardinal Albrecht of Brandenburg, as administrator of the diocese of Halberstadt, enfeoffed it with jurisdiction in both villages. In the 18th century the jurisdiction was divided between the manor and the Westerburg office, in 1842 it was completely in the office. In 1706 von Gustedt acquired the parish patronage of the Braunschweig monastery St. Blasius, after they already had the patronage of the chapel in Bexheim. The estate remained in family ownership until its expropriation in the course of the land reform in 1945. Inventory information: The manor archive of the von Gustedt family from Deersheim has an older order, as old signatures on the files and an old repertory from the 2nd decade of the 19th century prove. In addition, there seems to have been a land registry that was not passed through much later. A final order of the entire file and document material was planned for the period after the end of the Second World War by the Archive Advisory Office of the Province of Saxony. In the course of the land reform, however, the manor archive was salvaged by the state main archive and first transferred to Wernigerode, then to the Magdeburg archive. In this phase there were probably losses in the portfolio. For the archival new order, the old registry structure, which could be restored except for a few gaps, offered itself as a structuring system. The holdings of the old manor archive and a lot of loose and partly disordered files had to be distributed into this system. There is no denying that there are shortcomings in this division of the registry. Their disintegration, however, would have led to the dissolution of the collection, especially as the construction of the old manor archive had been severely disrupted. The numerous loose sheets were divided into the individual chapters and placed in folders at the end of each chapter. On the basis of a contract concluded in 2000, the holdings are kept as a deposit in the Saxony-Anhalt State Archives. The main index of the Deersheim manor archive was transferred from an access file to the present archive information system in January 2014. The documents handed over in connection with the conclusion of the deposit agreement by the von Gustedt family as a supplement to the deposit were already listed under the item "Annex" in 2013.           Find aids: Find book from 1962 (online searchable) Registraturbilddner: Dröschkau belongs to the city of Belgern, Lkr. Nordsachsen, Freistaat Sachsen. Dröschkau was mentioned in 1130 as Burgward im Gau Belgern and belonged in the late Middle Ages to the Stiftsamt Wurzen of the Hochstifts Meißen. The Wettin claim to sovereignty over the Hochstift, manifested as early as 1485, was recognised by Bishop Johann IX of Meissen in 1581. Nevertheless, the Stiftsamt Wurzen, as a neighbouring state of Saxony, retained its own monastery government until 1818. In 1815 Dröschkau with parts of the monastery office came to Prussia and belonged there 1816-1945 to the province Saxony. 1489 in Dröschkau a outwork of the nunnery Mühlberg is documented. In 1582 Stellan von Holtzendorf was pardoned by Elector August. In 1669 the estate was transferred to the von Heynitz family as a result of a marriage. The manor, designated in 1815 as written manor, held the patrimonial jurisdiction over the place at the latest in the 18th century and was subject to the office of Torgau. The Pietzsch Vorwerk and the Schäferei Neusorge belonged to the property complex. The von Heynitz family sat on Dröschkau until the expropriation in the course of the land reform in 1945. Inventory information: The holdings were transferred to the Saxony-Anhalt State Main Archive on 27.06.1949 via the Halle/S. State Library. A repertory was not available, a continuous archive order does not seem to have existed, so that the archival records, which were mostly unbound, had to be rearranged and listed anew. If one compares the information provided by O. Steinecke (Forschungen zur Brandenburgischen und Preußischen Geschichte, vol. 15, 1902, p. 421) on the holdings of the Heynitz family archive in Dröschkau with the archive records that have been transferred to the Saxony-Anhalt state archives, it is regrettable to note that significant losses have occurred. The 41 diaries of Friedrich Anton von Heynitz from the years 1747 to 1783 and 1792 to 1802, mentioned by Steinecke, are missing, among others.           Find aids: Find book from 1987 (online searchable) Registraturbilddner: Eichenbarleben belongs to the municipality Hohe Börde, Lkr. Börde, Saxony-Anhalt. In the late Middle Ages, Eichenbarleben was a fief of the Archbishopric of Magdeburg, which fell to the Electors of Brandenburg in 1680 as the Duchy of Magdeburg and merged in 1816 into the Prussian province of Saxony, which existed until 1945. 1140 a count Hoyer created the basis for a noble seat in oak bar life by the acquisition of 12 hooves. Since 1283 ministerials of Eichenbarleben are provable. In 1452 the castle, known as the Magdeburg fief, which belonged to the von Wanzleben family, passed to the von Alvensleben black line at Hundisburg. Since 1565 Eichenbarleben has been the seat of its own family branch. In 1813 he had to sell the estate, but it remained in family hands and belonged to the line Erxleben II since 1821. After the death of the Prussian Minister of State Count Albrecht von Alvensleben in 1858, Eichenbarleben moved to the von Krosigk family, who owned the estate until its expropriation in the course of the land reform in 1945. The manor, which was described in 1842 as fit for state parliament, included the parish patronage and the patrimonial jurisdiction over Eichenbarleben and Süplingen. Inventory information: The holdings seized in the course of the land reform were handed over to the then State Archives of Magdeburg in October 1949.           Inventory description: Dept. 170/2 estate Georg and Barbara Freed Scope: 819 units of description (= 23 linear metres of archive cartons and 9 linear metres of rolled plans) = add. 32 m Running time: 1792 - 1941 Family and foundation In the course of establishing a foundation to the City of Worms, which was decreed in the will, the Worms architect Georg Ludwig Freed (1858-1936) and his sister Barbara (Babette 1855-1941) bequeathed documents to the then museum and the municipal cultural institutes, which were taken over by Dr. Illert in 1942 (cf. Der Wormsgau 2, p. 99). Members of the Freed family had been resident in Worms since the beginning of the 19th century as master painters and whitewashers. They already held important positions in bourgeois associations in the pre-March period, including the Schützengesellschaft, the gymnastics community of 1846 Worms and the fire brigade. Both siblings remained unmarried throughout their lives, their sister Anna Maria (1854) was the wife of the museum director and since 1898 city archivist August Weckerling. The material of the 'Stiftung Freed' includes personal letters, postcards and papers, diaries, documents as well as artisan, artistic and family history documents in a large variety (especially about 1850 to 1935), without any documents obviously being collected after the death of the siblings. A large part of the estate is occupied by the actual architect Freed (numerous sketches, drawings, maps, plans, newspapers, etc.), whose temporal focus lies in his Mannheim years between 1889/93 and 1914. In addition, there are association documents from the entire Protestant-national-liberal milieu, including militaria and national teams or academic associations of the TH Darmstadt. In addition to the documents of his father Georg Fr. Freed from the time since approx. 1840, the closed file tradition of the house Wollstr. 28, which has been inhabited since 1800 and bequeathed to the city of Worms in 1941/42 and later sold privately by the latter (house preserved, part of a monument zone) is also relevant. Family grandfather of G. Freed: Johann Ph. Freed 1794-1845 married with Johanna Friederika Uswald 1798-1823 (daughter of:) Carl Ernst Ußwald from Oelsnitz/Vogtland 1754, from 1796 in Worms, 1818 (= great-grandfather of G.           The archive of the von Schiber family from Munich: "It was a dear time, the good old time before anno 14. In Bavaria even cooked. The beer was still dark, the people warned typically; the lads dashing, the dirndls decent and the dignitaries a bit distinguished and a bit casual. There was still a lot in order back then". This is how Georg Lohmeier characterizes his Success series "Königlich bayerisches Amtsgericht" the Prinzregentenzeit, historically, the time of the bourgeoisie. Today the beer is no longer dark and many other things have changed a lot. Already the first very rough sighting of the wooden crates made especially for the archiving of the documents let assume, that this is a very extraordinary, with much love and expertise invested family archive of an educated citizen from the 19th century. and the beginning of the 20th century. To anticipate: the first impression was surpassed by far after a more intensive inspection and development. After the archive had been transferred to the State Archives in Munich, it was possible to begin the indexing of the holdings in the premises there. In the case of such cataloguing activities, an attempt is first made to reconstruct a pre-archival order, which promises a first clue for a meaningful thematic structure of the documents. In the case of the Schiber´schen archive, this was quite simple, since a numbering was attached to the wooden boxes. The very first files brought to light almost unbelievable things: Files on the tectonics of the archive, on the classification according to family history topics, on the storage of the archive in wooden boxes and finally the number books. In these books were all over 25 books handed down in the family archive.000 documents with consecutive numbers were entered and the note was also added, under which case reference the letters had been filed. The file numbers themselves also had their own structure, mainly according to genealogical aspects. In addition, there is also an archive usage order and an order scheme graded according to colour characteristics. The creator of this comprehensive order was Wilhelm von Schiber (1889-1963), the father of the donor. Wilhelm, a native of Munich, graduated from the Theresiengymnasium in Munich and then studied in Heidelberg, Munich, Kiel and Erlangen, and was subsequently an active combatant from 1914-1918. From this time approx. 1000 field letters from and to him; in addition he kept a war diary, which the passionate draughtsman occasionally enriched with sketches. But that's not all: to the war diary there are still four plant volumes in which Wilhelm von Schiber collected everything that seemed important to him: Postcards to the places of action, photographs of the troops, orders for action, tickets, emergency money, etc. After his demobilization he found a job as a government councillor at the Bavarian Insurance Chamber. After his marriage to Margarete Fischer in 1934 and the outbreak of war in 1939, he was drafted again and came as local commander of the local commander's office I/635 to the north of France. After the end of the war and an internment of almost one year he took after some time and After a long period of quarrelling with the military government, he resumed his work at the Bavarian Insurance Chamber. Throughout his life Wilhelm von Schiber was anxious to achieve this, to organize his family archive and supplement it with documents, that were transferred to him by relatives or that he actively "took over". He maintained an extensive correspondence with all his relatives, and other family members, especially on genealogical and genealogical questions. First and foremost, however, he endeavoured to create the most extensive genealogical tables and genealogical series for his ancestors, spending a lot of money commissioned by genealogists, which provided him with corresponding source excerpts and strain series, who drew them from archives of the most diverse provenance. He himself could not always devote himself to this task with the intensity he hoped for, for he came to it, as he ironically writes to the Amberg State Archives, on the always planned visit of two world wars in between. In this way numerous family files with excerpts from church books, marriage records, personal files, photographs, original letters were created, completely worked out stem rows, coat of arms drawings, Seal imprints, but also hair curls, everything arranged according to the scheme worked out by him. In addition to this activity, he also devoted himself to his literary inclinations, so he wrote - mostly under the pseudonym "Wilhelm Burkhardsberg", the place of origin of the first tangible ancestors - numerous genealogical and family history works, partly also of extensive nature, like "Die Ahnen des Wilhelm von Schiber" (1932), the "Münz- und Schaumünzkunde für Familienforscher" (1937), the story "Der von Steinsdorf" (1930), "The Ernst of Hagsdorf, the Ernst from Vohburg and their relatives" (1931), "The descendants of Johann Baptist Simon Ritter von Schiber from the house Burkhardsberg" (1957) and not to forget his "preparatory work for the family chronicle" (1911-1917). In addition, he took part in numerous prize competitions and wrote the poetry cycles "Rote Blätter" (Red Leaves), "Nature and eroticism" and "Revolution cycle" as well as numerous other poems and short stories not summarized in cycles, who usually lie dormant unpublished in his family archive. Wilhelm von Schiber probably had his passion for the family and also his level of education; he was fluent in English, French and Latin, in which he even wrote his diaries in his youth, inherited from his father, Franz Xaver von Schiber (1834-1920). "Xavier" or "Boraxl," as his nicknames were, was also a lawyer and could have made a great career in the diplomatic service due to his excellent grades, but remained in the Bavarian administrative service at the express request of his father. From April 1868 he was the youngest Bavarian district official in parish churches, subsequently in Fürth, Wasserburg and Berchtesgaden from 1878-1888 Bezirksamtmann in Lindau. He was reluctant to leave his beloved Lindau for Munich, but his troubled health made a retreat into private life seem advisable. He had to go to the neurology clinic.wittelsbach" in Munich and devoted himself entirely to his self-chosen tasks, primarily the publication of an Italian dictionary. The rejection of the Lexi-kon by the publishers again brought him one of his severe personal disappointments. In addition, the guitar and piano played, so that in his estate there are a number of notes and songs especially for the guitar. In addition, the family archive contains his extensive diary series, numerous letters and photographs as well as a collection of business cards. He was married to his base, Sophie Maillinger (1865-1951), who came from Landau i.d. Pfalz. After the families moved to Munich in 1877, she belonged to the Barlow family's closest circle of friends, later Brown House). Here she also met Franz von Schiber, whom she married in 1888. Via Sophie von Schiber, a large part of the estate concerning the Maillinger family also came to the family archive. For the family archives, the The parents of Franz von Schiber are Gustav Achilles von Schiber and his wife Caroline Baumüller. Gustav Achilles Schiber, called "Gustl" was born in 1812 in Amberg. His father, Johann Baptist Simon Ritter von Schiber, was at that time a legal adviser at the Appellate Court in Amberg, But after his appointment the family moved to Munich in 1819, where Gustl attended the cadet school. In 1831 he became Junker in the Infantry Body Regiment and married Karoline Baumüller in 1833 in Munich's Dom. Since Gustav was an extremely talented draughtsman and gifted hobbyist, he made the traditional sewing kit temple for his bride's wedding. His skills in technical drawing were very much in line with his professional career, he was transferred to the Topographic Bureau in 1842, which at that time was housed exactly where its written and graphic legacy is once again kept today: at the Munich State Archives, the former War Department. After further career jumps to captain and major he left the association in 1863. In the private sphere Gustav, Caroline and "Xavier" were very fond of travelling, spent much time at the Ramsdorf headquarters in Lower Bavaria, which belonged to their friend Ludwig Freiherr von Verger, which is immortalized several times by Gustav in his numerous sketchbooks as well as in the Chiemsee region. In addition, there are several oil paintings from his brush in the family property. Of course, Wilhelm von Schiber had photographic reproductions made for his family archive. Following his sociability, he was a founding member of the Harbni Order (1850), a society against the animal seriousness to which a number of well-known Munich personalities belonged, e.g.B. Max von Pettenkofer. There is also a rich tradition of this in the family archive. He was also the first in the family, who, on the basis of his personal acquaintance with Franz Xaver. Gabelsberger and a penchant for the shorthand this also used, as later above all the archive founder Wilhelm von Schiber did this excessively. After her wedding, his wife Caroline Baumüller confined herself to raising children and doing the housework. She enriched the family archive with her friendship album, which shows not only the beautiful miniatures and aphorisms but also their extensive circle of friends and family. Father of Achilles and progenitor of the present line of Schiber was Johann Baptist Simon von Schiber (1770-1836) from Burkhardsberg in the Oberfalz (Lkr. Schwandorf). After studying jurisprudence and obtaining his doctorate in Ingolstadt, he initially worked as a land commissioner in Munich, from 1804 State Directorate Council to Amberg. Since 1808 he was crown fiscal at the Appellation Court in Amberg and in 1819 he was promoted to the General Fiscal Council in Munich, in 1826 to crown attorney at the K. State Ministry of Finance. Johann Baptist von Schiber died in Munich in 1836. Some of his originals have also been preserved in the family archives, especially an exchange of letters from the end of the 18th century. It deserves to be mentioned here. In addition, numerous archival documents from the State Archives Amberg, Munich State Archives and the Bavarian Main State Archives z.T. literally copied or excerpted and are attached to the personal file of Johann Baptist von Schibers. In addition to the numerous "ego-documents", such as diaries and letters, which have been described as such in current research, the friendship albums and sketchbooks a more than extensive photo library forms a crowning conclusion of the family archive. Photographs of all members of the family and all branches of the family are gathered here in two larger cartotheques. The oldest photographs certainly date back to the middle of the 19th century. So this is not only a highly remarkable source in terms of family history, but also in terms of technical history, which documents the influence of technology on the status and self-confidence of the educated bourgeoisie. That there is also a name, object and place index for the entire archive, who refers back to the number books, was no longer too surprised by the meticulousness of the archive founder. The "Schiber Family Archive" invites cultural historians, genealogists and those interested in cultural history, to trace the great time of the bourgeoisie but also its decline on the basis of its own sources.           Description of holdings: Abt. 40 Gemeindearchiv Herrnsheim (before 1945) Scope: 307 archive cartons 2 lfm Amtsbücher (= 2538 units = 49 lfm) Duration: 1445 - 1945 The preface to the present holdings Abt. 40 - Gemeindearchiv Herrnsheim (bis 1945) - des Stadtarchivs Worms is intended to give a brief insight into the development of the registry and archive material on the one hand at the time of its safekeeping in the Bürgermeistei Herrnsheim, and on the other hand since its takeover by the city of Worms. Subsequently, the indexing work is explained, with reference to special features and supplementary holdings. A short outline of the local history is sent in advance in the wording of the inventory overview of the Stadtar-chiv Worms, literature references to deepen the information on the local history can be found as an appendix to this foreword. I. II. municipal registry and archive In 1826, in accordance with the government decree of 25.7.1826, a register of the collections of laws, ordinances and instructions available in the Herrnsheim archive was compiled. The archive was refurbished in 1830/31 in connection with the construction of the new community centre. New furniture was commissioned and manufactured, including a filing cabinet for the archive and another for the mayor's office. Also the receipt of the Wwe. Ph. Ch. Schöneck from Worms of 20.4.1831 about 12 guilders and 19 cruisers for the repair of 28 steep cartons for the Bürgermeisterei-Archiv in Herrnsheim gives an insight into the file storage in Herrnsheim. On 30 October 1830, a circular was sent to all the provincial mayor's offices concerning the management of the files, concerning the "Order of the Provincial Municipal Archives". It is demanded that the official documents be sorted according to the aforementioned headings, that the files be sorted chronologically according to objects until 1830, then stored in cardboard boxes or cupboards in closed premises. The latter requirements were met - as explained above - in the new furnishing of the community centre. According to the circular, all receipts should be attached and the collection completed by 1 February of each year. On 27 March 1838 Mr. Völcker was commissioned by the district council to revise the municipal registry in Herrnsheim. In accordance with the registration plan for the mayors, he should inspect and arrange the documents on site and only receive his fees if he has completed this work in accordance with the regulations. Obviously this was not the case, because on July 26, 1838 the county council of Staedel assigned Mr. Peth from Bermersheim with the order of the municipal registry in Herrnsheim. A further inventory, which now also includes the files, was created for the community of Herrnsheim - presumably between 1905 and 1910 for valuation for insurance purposes. In the care of the mayor were an archive cabinet, two large file cabinets, a small file cabinet and an old file box. In addition to official and legal gazettes, various ordinances, handbooks and technical literature, 56 fascicles, the value of which could not be determined, are listed for the registry plan groups I - XXVI. In the following, numerous fascicles are listed both with details regarding assignment to the registry plan, duration and evaluation. Particularly noteworthy are e.g. the fair protocol book of 1716, guardianship bills and wills etc. 1699-1821, official and court protocols 1778-1798, fire register 1817, 1835 and 1848 as well as a new one. Also a local building plan (3 sheets), which is no longer available after current distortion, is proven in this inventory, estimated at 200 Marks. It should also be noted that there were several murals in the town hall, the Duke Dalberg, Emperor Wilhelm I, Emperor Wilhelm II and the Empress as well as members of the hess. Grand Duke's family, there were also other pictures, one, the volcanic eruptions showed another, the battlefield around Metz. The files mentioned in this inventory, which the registrar kept, seem to be available except for the volume listed here Birth, marriage and death registers 1780-1798. The next overview of the municipal archive Herrnsheim is provided in 1937 by Prof. Dr. Wilhelm Becker with his compilation of the inventories of the municipal archives of the district Worms. Here Prof. Henkelmann from Bensheim checked the existence of the community Herrnsheim and according to the file groups of the hess. The registry plan of 1908 is summarized. It should be noted that the oldest pieces mentioned here, e.g. the Morgenbuch (1626-1666; Dept. 40 No. 370), the Verordnungsbuch des Franz Heinrich Käm-merer von Worms Frhr. v. Dalberg (from 1742; Dept. 40 No. 1), the instrument of those at Neuhau-sen, about the provision of two Geharnischter at Herrnsheim (1445, no. 5), baker's order of 1736 (copy, dept. 40 no. 371) as well as further pieces already listed above in the inventory at the beginning of the 20th century, e.g. the fair protocol book, official and court records. In October 1914, the decree book of Franz Heinrich Kämmerer v. Dalberg as well as the instrument of those of Neuhausen were made available for use by the Grand Ducal Hessian House and State Archive in Darmstadt on behalf of the former Referendar Müller. Note: It is noticeable that the municipal council minutes are not available as a complete series, the earliest protocol book even only in 1836 begins. It is to be assumed and in comparison to other church archives as unusual to notice that this volume was at all the first protocol volume for Herrnsheim. It was acquired on 3 May 1836 alongside various other registers. According to the inventory (see above) three volumes were available at the beginning of the 20th century (1836/40, 1856/75 and 1875 ff), the pieces were valued at 90 marks. At least for the absence of a ribbon an explanation could be found in the files. The former mayor Brandt refused the publication of the protocol book in 1856. In 1986, the city archives once again attempted to investigate the failure of the municipal council records between 1840 and 1919, but the then head of the town Josef Wolf had to fit as well. There is also a gap in the series of municipal accounts with the corresponding volumes of deeds between 1924 and 1940. For the years after 1940, the accounts as well as the accounts and the corresponding documents of the Geschwister-Zimmer-Siftung for the period between 1921 and 1941/42 are missing. The loss of some files or the one or the other transaction can be explained by the fact that it happened that these were lost during the loan e.g. to the district office in Worms. For this reason, Herrnsheim refused to hand over correspondence with Freiherr Heyl'schen Güterverwaltung concerning the question of space for the fire station of the fire brigade to the Hessian Building Department in Worms. On his cover letter it was noted: did not happen, otherwise the files (like so many before already) would not be findable any more one day. In order to prevent the loss or destruction of files by air raids, Martin Fell and his wife were requested by the local administration on 21.9.1942 to secure important documents every evening and to salvage the files in the event of damage to the town hall caused by air raids. On 29.4.1943, in the course of the incorporation of Herrnsheim, the files were first transferred to the cellar of the Cornelianum in Worms. On the basis of the different file aprons the different used Regist-raturplans can be recognized, first 1836, then 1908 and finally after 1942 (with the inscription 'Stadtverwal-tung Worms'). Some file covers were preserved as samples in abbot 40 no. 2532 - no. 2534). For the fascicles belonging to the classification group XXI.09. Dalbergische Grundstücksangelegenheiten, the file aprons have inscriptions similar to those shown for files in Dept. 159. III. listing The written material taken over in the course of the incorporation 1943 was registered in the 70iger years after the Bär'schen principle, whereby as a rule the titles of the office books and minutes as well as those after the hess. file plans from 1836 or 1908 on the file aprons were taken over traditional inscriptions. This first registration work originally comprised 371 units, whereby the last registered units (from no. 331) were supplemented at later dates and comprised a running time until 1966. On 24 June 1971, the then District Court Director Dr. Heinz Pfannebecker handed over 12 documents to the City Archives, which obviously originated from the provenance of the Herrnsheim Mayor's Office. Most recently, in 2002, title recordings of sources from the still unlisted partial stock were made in connection with Volker Brecher's work on the war economy in Worms. Here, files were taken into account that were thematically related to prisoners of war, foreigners, etc. for the period between 1938 and 1950. In the inventory of Dept. 40, which had already been recorded, a few files exclusively with the term after 1945 were taken into account in the first registration. These were segregated and returned with the still unlisted part of the stock, which also included files after 1945, in order to be processed later in connection with Dept. 6 Municipality of Worms (after 1945). Since individual files may have already been used under their old signature, a list of these pieces can be found in the appendix of this finding aid book, which is currently stored in 29 archive boxes (plus some loose pieces) in the magazine of the Raschi-Haus (Regal 25) together with the total of six linear metres of written material after 1945. With the new indexing of the inventory Abt. 40 - Gemeindearchiv Herrnsheim - was started in December 2005, the indexing work was completed in July 2006. In addition to the written material already listed, unlisted material was also taken into account. The indexing work was carried out according to the Bär principle, whereby a new numbering inevitably resulted with the dissolution of earlier larger indexing units, i.e. new signatures were assigned for these documents. Therefore a concordance between old and new signatures was created and attached to this find book. The entire inventory was entered into the AUGIAS archiving program and simultaneously indexed (company, location, person and subject index). The basis for the classification was the hess. The file plan of 1908 was chosen and modified and supplemented according to local needs. For reasons of data protection, approx. 140 files were provided with blocking notices for use. The relatively high number results from the fact that a large number of civil documents are available for which the Civil Status Act provides guidelines for use or non-use. Thin folders from the period around 1930/40 were collected, which contained Generalia - often only in the size of 2-3 sheets - and had no direct reference to matters in Herrnsheim; in addition, two bundles of calibration maps were sorted out, which have no informative value whatsoever. In total, the scope of the cassation covers three archive boxes. The municipal archive Herrnsheim is kept to the extent of 2538 units of description (numerically up to 2534) in 308 archive boxes (49 linear metres, of which 2 linear metres are official books). The duration ranges from 1445 to the 1970s, with a focus on the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century. Despite incorporation in 1942, the cut for the index was set at 1945 so that two border data did not have to be taken into account within only three years, i.e. 1942 as the year of incorporation on the one hand, 1945 as the border year for the files handed down by the city administration before 1945 (Dept. 5) and after 1945 (Dept. 6) on the other. Therefore, the files were left in Dept. 40, in which at least one document from 1945 was still contained - irrespective of whether the temporal focus of the file tended to concern the period after 1945. IV. State of preservation The state of preservation of the files and official records of the present municipal archives can be described as good by and large. Unfortunately a larger number of pieces affected with mould is to be registered in particular under the calculations and documents, as well as the handbooks and diaries over incomes and expenditures: 45 with light mould infestation, with mould and water damages 7 pieces and 14 volumes are sport and have mould milk damages. Besides, a part of the document books to the calculations as well as a large number of the handbooks and diaries (approx. 140 pieces, i.e. approx. 5.5 es total stock) show beside mould and spores also water damages. Ten official books (invoice receipts and property tax section directories) are bound in such a way that parchment, which as a rule is inscribed with liturgical texts, forms the spine of the book in second use. Also thread-stitched files, as known from Prussian administration, can be found in Dept. 40. These are the official records (Protocollum Judicale, Dept. 40 No. 295 - 298). V. Tips for the use of the inventory The signatures of the individual sources are indicated with : City Archive Worms Dept. 40 No..... The often underestimated significance of the following sources should be pointed out here. In the volumes of documents relating to the invoices, in addition to newspapers (e.g. Dept. 40 No. 2409), there are also work chords (Dept. 40 No. 2469), invoices of various companies (Dept. 40 No. 2502), e.g. on work performed and material used for it (Dept. 40 No. 2504). The correspondence registers (e.g. Dept. 40 No. 651, No. 652) were also kept in full text in some years, so that the complete correspondence between the higher authority or private persons on the one hand and the mayor's office on the other hand can be traced in connection with the corresponding fact files. The significance of the inventory of estates as a source genre for genealogical, social and economic research should be pointed out in particular. The inventories are in the present stock under the classification group X.02.e. Inheritances and guardianship matters registered. There are also files on asset sharing and wills. For ease of use, the units of description have been sorted roughly alphabetically by surname, with all occurring surnames "underlined" at the same time. With regard to the index of persons, it should be noted that in very few exceptional cases the correct alphabetical order was broken. If the usual spelling of a common name was extremely changed, the allocation was made within the normal one, e.g. 'Pardong' instead of 'Bardong', here the classification took place under 'B'. If family names were used with equal weight in different spellings and their proximity was recognizable within the alphabet, no standardization or assignment was made, e.g. Ertelmeyer/Erdelmeyer. The company index was created so that smaller businesses in the municipality, which normally only run under the personal name (e.g. J. Hübner, Buchdruckerei), could also be recorded. It would be very difficult to find small companies within the index. Now the list can be flown over within the company index - also in case of classification (depending on how the transaction is usually called) partly under the first name, partly under the last name or under the business object. The prefix "Fa." was omitted because it was not used regularly [possibly also at different times] even by one and the same company. That's why it's uncertain to what extent he's really part of the name. Apo counters and restaurants mentioned by name were also included in this index. General designations such as locksmith's shop and glazier's shop have been added to the index.           History of the Inventory Designer: After the dissolution of the "Historical Reich Commission", the Reich Institute for the History of the New Germany was founded in Berlin with effect from 1 July 1935. The Jewish Question Research Department, established in 1936, was based in Munich. The Reichsinstitut was subject to the supervision of the Reich Ministry of Science, Education and People's Education. It had the task of "researching and presenting modern German history, especially the period between the French Revolution and the National Socialist Revolution (1789-1933)", both in the form of source publications and independent presentations. The numerous research assignments included, among others Foreign Policy of Prussia 1858 - 1871 (adopted by the "Historische Reichskommission"), History of Philosophy, Research on the Jewish Question and Reich and Enemies of the Reich. Until December 1941, the Reichsinstitut was headed by Prof. Dr. Walter Frank, (temporarily) replaced by Dr. Karl Richard Ganzer. In Ganzer's absence and after his death in October 1943, Prof. Dr. Erich Botzenhart took over the performance of his official duties. Inventory description: Inventory history In the last years of the war, essential parts of the Reichsinstitut had been relocated to Göttingen, including service and business records (destroyed there), an extensive contemporary press archive with biographical collections on contemporary personalities, parts of the Steininger Biographical Collection with material on Hitler, Ludendorff and other prominent contemporaries, a series of transcripts from Colonel Bauer's papers and parts of the reference library. The surviving documents were handed over to the University of Göttingen at the end of the war. From there in 1953 the approximately 27 linear metres of newspaper clippings were transferred to the Institute for Contemporary History in Munich, where they were later integrated into the collection there. The files remaining in Berlin were transferred to the Berlin main archive (Rep. 300 Reichsinstitut für Geschichte des neuen Deutschlands and Rep. 336 Biographische Sammlung Carl Steininger). In 1969 the Federal Archives took over the files of the Reichsinstitut (Rep. 300) and formed the inventory R 1. The Handakten Ganzer originate from a collection of the Hauptstaatsarchiv Wiesbaden from 1974. The daily reports of the HAPAG representative Arndt von Hotzendorff from 1914-1918 to the general director Albert Ballin, which were handed down as "Depot Hamburg - America - Line", had reached the Reichsinstitut in June 1939 in connection with research work of Colonel Nicolai, where they were recovered from fire debris in 1945. In 1990, the series of reports was submitted to the Hamburg State Archives, where it was integrated into the archive of HAPAG LLOYD AG. In the Federal Archives the documents can be used on film. Archivische Bearbeitung The list drawn up in 1945/1948 by the former archivist of the Reichsinstitut Johannes Grandinger was subsequently changed only by supplementing the new entries. Classification and distortion have been revised to the extent necessary for the present version of the finding aid book, in some cases in conjunction with re-signings. Characterization of the contents: Files of the Reichsinstitut were largely lost during the war through bombing and targeted destruction. The mass of the tradition is made up of the hand files of the accounting clerk for the Reich Institute in the Reich Ministry of Science, Education and Popular Education, Councillor Klöhn. Only a few files from the registry of the Reichsinstitut were secured, including circulars of the ministry and the access register of the library. The collection also contains some manuscripts of scientific papers as well as files of the provisional director Ganzer. State of development: Findbuch (2005), Online-Findbuch (2005).           Introduction 1st history of ownership The Detmold stock L 51 Foreign ownership of Lippe is divided into several local subgroups. The connection of these places consists in the fact that they contain different lippic rights (possessions, claims, pledges and bailiwicks) outside the closed territory. On the one hand it is a zone not far from the actual dominion area in the north or north-west (Enger, Bünde, Quernheim and Dünner Mark as well as Ulenburg), on the other hand it is also more distant areas such as the Beyenburg an der Wupper office, the sovereign dominion of Vianen south of Utrecht and the Freckenhorst monastery near Münster. In terms of time, however, the files on the individual groups are far apart, as they contain events from the 15th to the end of the 18th century (apart from copies of older documents supposedly dating back to 1031). Beyenburg was part of the duchy of Jülich-Kleve-Berg, but had served as the widow's seat of Countess Maria von Waldeck, who died in 1593. After this, negotiations and the actual takeover as a pledge by Count Simon VI zur Lippe took place, whereupon the administration by his officials (from 1597), which lasted for a decade, and the quite soon redemption by Jülich (1607) took place. The Lippe administration consisted of three persons, the rent master Wilhelm von Pylsum, who was taken over by Jülich and replaced by Hermann Kirchmann in 1602, another bailiff and the forester. The affairs of the office are reflected above all in the correspondence of the rent master and the bailiff with the count to the Lippe. In addition, account books and lists of receipts and expenditures have been preserved, and the two changes of government each led to an inventory of the rights and goods held there. The fact that the dismissed rent master of Pylsum and Count Simon VI also had a dispute over the years with Lippe has also found its expression in the records. In the village of Bünde, the Lippe rights consisted mainly of market duties, which are documented for some years (1551-1560) as well as external interventions against these rights. The office of Enger had been pledged to Bishop Wilhelm von Paderborn by the noblemen of Lippe in 1409. In the 16th century, the counts of zur Lippe repeatedly attempted to trigger the pledge at the Dukes of Jülich, to whom Enger had meanwhile come. Special activities developed in this respect under Count Simon VI in the years since 1576. The recovery did not succeed because there were disagreements about the exact scope of the pledged office. However, due to the establishment of a commission to delimit and record the Lippic rights there, protocols were drawn up containing an inventory of Enger around 1578. The files of the Quernheim monastery refer to the women's abbey there, the bailiwick of which the Counts of Lippe had held since the 13th century. In the 16th century, the abbesses there made frequent use of them, for example to protect their own people against attacks by representatives of the Minden monastery, but also against the town of Lübbecke and the Counts of Diepholz, and also to safeguard their claims for logging and pig fattening and for possessions and disagreements in the convent. In the end, the monastery became dependent on Minden after the departure of some sisters, against which even a joint action of the Counts of Lippe and the monastery of Osnabrück before the Imperial Chamber Court could not do anything. However, in the 18th century, the Counts of Lippe still had the bailiwick of Osnabrück as a lord over them. The Ulenburg collection is particularly extensive. The Lippe feudal sovereignty over this castle was established in 1470 and resulted from a successful feud between Lippe and the city of Herford against the Lords of Quernheim. Already the period before the later direct exercise of Lippe's power is well documented, because apparently the written estate of the last owner Hilmar von Quernheim was taken over. Hilmar, a Danish colonel in the service of Denmark and a drost of various masters, was involved in numerous legal disputes, such as a dispute with his cousin Jasper von Quernheim over Haus Beck, a property that often appears in the Ulenburg files. Hilmar's conflict over the sovereign rights claimed by the Minden monastery, in which his liege lord Simon VI soon supported him to the Lippe, and which continued after Hilmar's death ( 1581), had more consequences. Now the Ulenburg was claimed as a fief fallen home by Simon VI and after a long dispute with Minden it was finally claimed. When Minden handed the Ulenburg over to Lippe at the end of 1593 after an imperial penal mandate, the conflict was not over, as the condition of the castle was not satisfactory for Count Simon VI. In a continuation process (until 1607) numerous witnesses were questioned by an imperial commission and extensive lists of the income of the Ulenburg were drawn up. Although the Ulenburg reached the von Wrede family via Philipp zur Lippe-Alverdissen as early as the beginning of the 17th century, after their bankruptcy Lippe once again briefly took over the dominion there (around 1708 to 1711). Apparently the documents inventoried at that time were kept and then brought to the archive in Brake. Among them are also the files and numerous books of accounts from the end of the 16th century up to the time of von Wrede and her bankruptcy. From the Ulenburg, after their takeover, the older Lippe rights were administered in the Dünner Mark, such as the timber court there, which was also disputed with the Minden monastery. The relevant files can also be found in the Ulenburg collection. In contrast to the other subcases, the Freckenhorst Act only refers to a specific political process outside Lippe, namely the election of a new abbess. After the death of Abbess Margarete zur Lippe, Count Simon VI attempted to have his daughter Elisabeth elected as his successor, which found support in Freckenhorst but was prevented due to the intervention of the Münster Monastery in favour of a Catholic candidate. Thus it is basically not a "foreign possession" of Lippe. The dominions of Vianen and Ameide as well as the Burgraviate of Utrecht passed from the von Brederode family to the Counts of Dohna (1684). Through her heiress Amalie zu Dohna, the wife of Simon Heinrichs zur Lippe, the Dutch exclave came to Lippe in 1686. On September 3, 1725, however, it was sold to the Dutch General States, but the Vianisches Archiv remained, as far as family matters in the broadest sense were concerned, with the Haus Lippe in accordance with the contract. It contains numerous documents of the last members of the House of Brederode (Johann Wolfert, Wolfert and Hedwig) and their heirs Carl Emil and Amalie from the family of Dohna, including correspondence with the extensive relatives to whom financial obligations also existed due to a Fidei compromise regulation for Vianas. For exactly this reason, the later-born members of the house Lippe (Agnaten) saw themselves injured with the sales of Vianen in their there claims and went before the imperial chamber court. In Wetzlar they finally had success, which is why the ruling Counts zur Lippe had to pay compensation and now tried to sue their own responsible persons. Thus, the Lippe protagonists in the sales negotiations, President Christoph von Piderit and Government Councillor Blume, were confronted with accusations which led to a trial of the Lippe tax against the former president. Due to these later legal disputes, the materials of the internal administration of the Vianen dominion were preserved in order to document their legal and financial condition. Therefore these matters can be traced in detail, especially the payments of the rent masters Peter Inghenhouse (1679 still until at least 1698), Elisa Gordon (parallel to it since approx. 1694 to 1721, before already secretary, later mayor), Wolfert Louis van der Waal (interim 1721), Arnold Henrik Feith (1721-1724), Henrik van Dortmond (1725) as well as the special envoy Simon Henrich Blume (1725/26 respectively 1727/30). In addition, the Drost (Drossart) appeared, first for years Jacques de l¿Homme de la Fare, then from 1710 to 1725 Jean Henry Huguetan (married van Odijk, later Count Güldensteen) and other councillors, who together formed the government council of Vianen established in 1681. All those involved in administration cumulated several posts and, after their departure, often still dealt with their previous affairs, making it difficult to delimit them. This kind of administration seems to have been taken over from the time of von Brederode and during the intermezzo under Carl Emil to Dohna quite uninterruptedly under the Lippe rule, as well as personal continuities and connections (Elisa Gordon was related for instance to the family van Dortmond, this again with Jobst B.). Barckhausen). Nathan van Dortmond, who came from Vianen, even managed to climb the rank of Landgographer in Lippe, while councils from Germany were only active in Vianen in the early and late Lippe period, such as Justus Dietrich Neuhaus, Theodor Fuchs and Simon Henrich Blume. 2. inventory history The first six subgroups of the inventory L 51 were arranged by Johann Ludwig Knoch according to factual aspects, arranged and listed with quite detailed information in his find book. This kind of distortion depended very much on his preferences, which is why invoices and the like or sources about the subjects were kept, but hardly noticed. At the beginning of the files formed by Knoch there are often copies of late medieval documents, which mostly became legally relevant for later events, which only emerge in the further course of the often chronologically sorted compilations. Not only is the overall title of Auswärtiger Besitz somewhat imprecise due to the inclusion of the appointment of an abbess in Freckenhorst, which was decided to Lippe's disadvantage. Also the subdivisions were carried out schematically in such a way that connected processes were formally correctly separated into individual proceedings, but which belong to each other objectively (for instance the case Hilmar von Quernheim against Erich Dux, at least Drosten von Hausberge, as well as against his rule, bishop and cathedral chapter of the monastery Minden). In addition, bundles of remains appear, the distribution of which Knoch had still planned but not realized on different subject groups (L 51 No. 46, 160, similar to Vianen No. 265/66, and on mixed matters, No. 267), or also scattered individual pieces, which belong to a common process (affairs of the Colonel Alexander Günther von Wrede, L 51 No. 43, 55, 62). Some of these have no connection whatsoever with Lippe's external possessions, such as extracts from the minutes of the Reichskammergericht (L 51 No. 160) belonging to various trials. The invoices of the Beyenburg office (L 51 No. 14) also contained a bundle with letters on otherwise unrelated extra-lippic property titles (in Sommersell, Kariensiek and Entrup in the Oldenburg velvet office), which Knoch had still provided with his typical marginal notes at the upper margin and sorted chronologically, but without recording them. The situation is very similar with the invoices for a building that Count Simon VI had erected on Prague Castle Hill from 1608 (No. 120). There are apparently two further subgroups of the foreign property in the state of origin, which were not taken into account in Bnoch's find book and in the classification of the holdings. Furthermore, Knoch had laid out some files about the subjects of the Ulenburg, but had provided them with the remark nullius momenti (without meaning) in his find book and had not listed them more closely. In it, however, there are quite interesting matters from the end of the 17th century (L 51 No. 100 and. 101), such as letters of release, estate inventories of simple people, complaints about beer adultery or registers of persons together with their land and cattle. The seventh subgroup with the files on Vianas was apparently added to inventory L 51 only later. A part of the material came to Detmold only in 1726, to which were added the relevant entrances already present in the residence and the material of the later processes. Although Knoch has still inscribed individual files at the beginning and end of the partial stock (L 51 No. 265-267), its indexing is missing, at least in the preserved find book L 51. When the files on the proceedings of the family at Dohna were sought out again after 1772 because of the intervention of the Prussian King Frederick II, Knoch also became active, as a family tree and some remarks by his hand prove (L 51 No. 191). In the seventh subgroup, Vianen, there are on the one hand the entrances relating to the reign. In addition, there are materials which were brought to Detmold in 1726 when the archive at Batestein Castle in Vianen was divided. These files were apparently reassembled for later investigations and processes, but the L 3 stock, which did not contain only documents, was separated. Later orders of the Vianen substock were only carried out at a shallow depth. In principle, the present order seems on the one hand to go back to the structure of the matter for the Wetzlar Imperial Chamber Court process, which was conducted with the Lippe co-heirs, as also shown by corresponding notes (so to L 51 No. 218, No. 223), but on the other hand it concerns the annexes to the report of the later investigative commissions on the role of the Lippe councillors in the sale of the dominion. All in all, it is a rather colourful mixture of the most varied pieces from the administration of the dominion, which have to do not only with the period under the Counts of Lippe, but also with earlier centuries, above all from the reign of the von Brederode family and from the decades after the sale. The use by the Count of Lippe of the money obtained from the sale of vianas is also documented in detail. In addition, the private documents of Countess Amalie zur Lippe, née Dohna, have also been included in the documents about her inheritance, the dominion of Vianen, even if they had nothing to do with it directly. A part of the correspondence about and from Vianas was unfortunately arranged schematically (obviously not by Knoch) by sender. Thus the original factual connections were partly torn apart, which are now scattered over the directory units L 51 No. 268 to 285. The Vianen sub-collection also contained a collection of remnants, including copies of medieval documents, beginning with the foundation of the Abdinghof monastery [1031], and other documents, some of which are completely unrelated or only in connection with the collection, such as the possession of the Count of Geldern in the vicinity of Vianen or refer to ancestors of the Brederode family (such as Knight Arnold von Herlaer). Their inscription speaks for itself, for instance (L 51 No. 267): Quodlibet of collected individual pieces of file, of which the persecution, to which they belong, can perhaps still be found, or (ibid.) old news, of which perhaps still some use can be made. The collected printed matter (L 51 No. 255) and diaries, including the records of the secretary of Hedwig von Brederode for 1679 and 1680, but also an anonymous description of a sea voyage to America (1776), are more related to Vianas. The first evaluation of the inventory was carried out according to the state of the distortion. Since Count Simon VI. zur Lippe played a particularly important role in many of the parts of L 51, August Falkmann often referred to it in his work about this ruler in a way that owes much to the Bone Regests. Besides Falkmann, Otto Preuß also took a closer look at the materials for Ulenburg for the first time, while this pioneering achievement for Beyenburg was performed by Werhan. Peter van Meurs, who was involved in the drawing of the Vianic inventory L 3 in The Hague until 1909, probably also evaluated parts of L 51 VII for his work on the heritage of the House of Brederode. The inventory consists of 286 units in now 85 cartons; the oldest (transcribed) document in it allegedly originates from 1031, the most recent from 1796. The inventory took place from 17 October to 15 December 2004. On the one hand, the aim was to proceed in a more analytical and summarizing manner in order to better emphasize the characteristics of the nudes; on the other hand, the materials not yet considered by Knoch, the later rearrangements and additions, and the almost completely unexplored subcontent of vianas were to be recorded in an equivalent manner or, for lack of other finding aids, even deeper. It should be noted that in particular the documents on Vianas are written not only in German, but also in French, Dutch, Latin and rarely in English, which could not be listed here individually due to the frequent change of languages (often within documents). A unit listed in a previous record could not be described in detail as it appears to have been missing since 1999 (L 51 No 286). Technical defects forced the repeated processing of the indices. An old signature index was not created, since the bones were sometimes assigned signatures inconsistently or its units were divided again by later rearrangements and insertions. However, the exact concordance can be seen in the Bone Findbuch, in which the new signatures were entered. For conservation reasons, most of the posters were taken from the files, some of which belong to related matters, such as a replica of a sham letter from a trial of Hilmar von Quernheim, proclamations of laws of the dominion of Vianen and the neighbouring Dutch territories, but also those concerning other matters, such as a signed order of soldiers of the imperial commander-in-chief Wallenstein from the Thirty Years' War. Some of these posters were used as file covers. The withdrawal notes could not initially be printed for the distortion units. Since the holdings concern Lippe's foreign possessions and claims, materials on these can also be found in other archives, above all those of the neighbouring Reich estates, such as the Duchy of Jülich (HStA Düsseldorf) for Beyenburg, Enger and Bünde. There are also sources on Ulenburg and Haus Beck in other archives. For the trials of Hilmar von Quernheim and Count zur Lippe by the Imperial Chamber of Justice there is a counter tradition mainly in the State Archives of Münster (RKG Q 113-116, ibid. L 629/630), as well as in the formerly inseparable Wetzlar holdings (now the Federal Archives) and in numerous other archives. The files of Haus Beck are deposited in the Stadtarchiv Löhne, while the corresponding materials have reached the Stadtarchiv Bielefeld at Ulenburg. There is also further tradition of the enfeoffment of the Quernheimers with the Ulenburg. For the reign of Vianen and Ameide the materials in Detmold go back to the Middle Ages, since here the older documents of the Lords of Brederode can be found, mostly in L 3 (some also in L 51 No.214, 229, 265; in addition prints or regests of older documents of the House of Brederode, ibid. No. 210 and 243, respectively), a stock which for the later period possesses parallel files to L 51 and also extends into the period after the sale. Of course there is additional delivery in the Netherlands. For the spread of materials from Sommersell and neighbouring places, L 89 A No. 231-233 should also be used. The extensive material collections and party files on the Reichskammergerichtsprozessen über Vianen and the sporadically appearing RKG files in L 51, which do not belong to the actual subject matters of this collection, could be assigned on the basis of the already existing index. Already in 1785 files sent back from Wetzlar to the Reichskammergerichtsprozeß about the sale of Vianen have reached the inventory L 95 I. With the establishment of the Forest Directorate in 1855, a service instruction for foresters and forest marksmen was issued (see L 94 No. 42) and the division into 13 senior forest rangers (later amended several times) as well as official and service designations were determined. At the beginning of the year 1919 the old Domanial forest administration still existed with the 8 upper foresteries Hiddesen (2132 ha), Berlebeck (3093 ha), (Kohlstädt-)Horn resp. Oesterholz (2940 ha), Schieder (2935 ha), Falkenhagen (2713 ha), Sternberg (1913 ha), Langenholzhausen (1806 ha) and Detmold (672 ha), altogether 35 foresteries with an area of approx. 18,200 ha. - Hiddesen was the former Oberförsterei Lopshorn with seat in the Heidental (renaming 15.11.1918), Langenholzhausen the previous Obf. Varenholz with headquarters in Langenholzhausen, Detmold was called Diestelbruch until 30.05.1912. The seat of the Obf. Oesterholz was renamed to Obf. Horn moved from Oesterholz hunting lodge to the city on 01.08.1927 (Official Gazette No. 62), in 1929 the seat of the Obf. Sternberg into the castle Brake; in addition the merger of Sternberg and Detmold to the Obf took place to 01.01.1929. Brake. By the Domanialvertrag of 31.10.1919 the princely house received the Oberförsterei Berlebeck with the four foresteries Hirschberg, Hirschsprung, Hartröhren and Kreuzkrug. The main task of the State Forestry Administration in the 1920s was the step from administration to "operation", which was caused by modern economic development. The corresponding documentation therefore also takes up a great deal of space. In October 1934, the names of the authorities, offices and services were redefined on the basis of the new regulations introduced in Prussia (see current No. 592). Oberförsterei became Forstamt, Försterei became Revierförsterei. The chief forester became a land forester, a state chief forester a forester, a forester a district forester. Former auxiliary foresters were now called foresters, forest assistants auxiliary foresters, foresters and forest apprentices forest candidates (for administrative service / operational service). Until 1921 the forestry administration was housed in the building of the Fürstliche Forstdirektion, Hornsche Str. 66, built in 1866. After its sale to the company Gebr. Klingenberg, the offices were moved on 1 October to the converted building of the former Fürstliches Marstall am Schlossplatz / Rosenthal (see L 94 No. 10). In June 1924, the company moved again to the government building at Kaiser-Wilhelm-Platz and in August it was incorporated as the Lippische Regierung, Forstabteilung (see current no. 597). Julius Feye was the first "forester" of Lippe until his death in October 1896. From May 1897 until his death on 18.04.1925, Oberlandforstmeiser Alois Baldenecker, formerly Prussian Oberförster from Neukirchen, Kassel district, headed the Lippe forestry administration. He was followed by Alfred Reier from Syke near Bremen as a land forester from March 1926 onwards, after provisional management by forester Karl Schmidt from Hiddesen, but he was already retired at the end of July 1933 before reaching the age of 65 (he was born on 18.06.1879) "in order to simplify the state government". The aforementioned forester Schmidt was now to head the state forestry administration in addition to his head forester Hiddesen. However, since it soon turned out that it was impossible to exercise both offices, Dr. Köster, a trainee forestry officer, was hired by the Hiddesen forestry office from November 1935. Schmidt (*15.11.1871) held his office as land forester until shortly before he reached the age of 67 (October 1938), but resumed his duties when his successor Fritz Murmann from Bielefeld was drafted for military service and finally - after an interim U.K. position - fell in December 1942. It was not until 1 March 1946 that Schmidt finally retired, after Alfred Hirsekorn, the Lord Forester from Rinkerode, had been appointed the provisional head of the State Forestry Administration in January of the same year. However, he made his office available in May and was replaced by Otto Wahl from Celle. About 9/10 of the holdings (No. 1-878) originate from the addition 47/1976, which was arranged according to the file plan introduced in 1927 ("conversion of the forest department's registry according to the state budget", see current No. 590) and was valid until the files were handed over to the Landesverband Lippe in 1949. Nos. 879-892 came into the house as entrance 37/1962, No. 893-971 were already signed as L 80 II c No. 1-9, but not listed. At the beginning of 2003, 27 business diaries (journals) were discovered on the access floor (Nos. 972-998). The files essentially cover the period from the creation of the new department registries in 1924 (see current No. 597 and L 75 IV / 1 No. 20) until the transition to the forest department of the regional association; many file covers bear the note "angelegt 1927". Previous files are in stock L 94 (Forstdirektion); continued files or files created only in 1950 and later were assigned to stock D 110. The transfer of file management to the LVL proved to be extremely blurred. The forest department of the government existed until 1949. Very many files contain still some few documents from the years 1950-1951, rarely also 1952. These files were left, if the contents had developed far predominantly in the years until 1949, with the existence L 80.19, since otherwise only one torso would have remained. Obviously, the LVL created new files from 1951/52 and transferred the old registry to the State Archives in 1976. The above-mentioned file plan formed the basis for the order of the inventory, which, however, required numerous changes. General files on the establishment and organisation of the forest administration, for example, ranked 7th among the title groups. Different groups of files had to be grouped or subdivided. Nos 879 et seq. could easily be attributed to the positions of the file plan used.           Foreword Landbauamt Bad Kissingen Files: History of the authorities of the agricultural office Bad Kissingen: The Landbauamt Bad Kissingen was established on 23 January 1872 as one of 24 offices with identical names in Bavaria to carry out building construction projects (source: Government Gazette for the Kingdom of Bavaria No 10 of 31 January 1872). The activities in the field of civil engineering, which had been carried out from 1857 to 1872 by the so-called building authorities, were transferred to the road and river construction offices newly established at the same time. The background to this reorganisation was the delayed adaptation of the state building administration to the restructuring of the internal administration at the lower level through the spin-off from the regional courts (of an older order) and the establishment of the district offices. The regional authority Bad Kissingen was assigned the spatial responsibility for the sprinkles of the district offices Bad Brückenau, Bad Kissingen, Ebern, Haßfurt, Bad Königshofen, Hofheim, Mellrichstadt, Bad Neustadt a.d.Saale and Schweinfurt as well as the independent towns Bad Kissingen and Schweinfurt.           Content and evaluation Introduction In anthropological research, concern for the deceased is regarded as one of the most important indicators of the beginning of human culture. By taking care of the burial of the mortal remains of members of one's own community, prehistoric man already revealed ideas of a beyond and a connection between individual and community that went beyond death. In the Judeo-Christian culture, burial in a coffin developed into the usual form of burial, which had to take place in a special, specially designated area, the cemetery. The inviolability of the peace of the dead, which is indispensable for Jewish burials in contrast to Christian ones, means that Jewish cemeteries are not cleared and reoccupied after certain periods of rest. As far as they escaped National Socialist barbarism, Jewish cemeteries in Baden-Württemberg were able to grow in many cases over many generations up to the present day. Since it was customary until the 20th century to mention the name of the buried person as well as the name of the father on the gravestones, these inscriptions also represent sources of the highest value for historical-genealogical research. All these cemeteries are today protected cultural monuments. On the basis of a resolution of the Baden-Württemberg state parliament in 1989, which dealt with the documentation and preservation of Jewish cemeteries in Baden Württemberg, the Baden-Württemberg State Monuments Office was commissioned to provide comprehensive documentation of all relevant gravestones. The main basis of this work were prints of photographs taken by the Central Archive for the Study of the History of Jews in Germany in Heidelberg between 1985 and 1992 of almost all Jewish gravestones in Baden-Württemberg. After completion of the project in May 2008, the copy set with around 85,000 copies was handed over to the Ludwigsburg State Archives together with the paper cemetery documentation prepared by the State Monument Office and a database with documentation results for a large part of the graves. In addition to historical, art and linguistic details, this database also contains genealogically relevant facts. In the course of a project financed by the Kulturgutstiftung Baden-Württemberg, this valuable collection was made available for online use as EL 228 b II in the State Archives of Ludwigsburg in 2011. The database, consisting of many individual tables, was prepared in a format suitable for the finding aid system of the State Archives, the entire photo stock was scanned, each photo was given an individual signature and - as far as possible - cemetery by cemetery manually linked with the database contents provided. Thus the condition of the gravestones, which has been confirmed photographically throughout 1985-1992, can be called up worldwide via the Internet in connection with the indexing data for further research. These are photographs of gravestones from over 141 cemeteries (the number of cemeteries in Baden-Württemberg differs slightly depending on the counting method used), of which 89 are located in Baden and 52 in Württemberg. The place names used in their alphabetical order follow those of the register of inventory books I and II ("Dokumentation Friedhöfe in Deutschland") of the Zentralarchiv zur Erforschung der Juden in Deutschland, Heidelberg, using today's official names (e.g. "Bad Wimpfen HN" instead of "Wimpfen (Bad)"). The census (001-143) in round brackets was used for the interlocking with the mentioned register otherwise, whereby the two cemeteries with the numbers 012 (Bremen) and 086 (Michelstadt/Hessen) are missing here, since they lie outside of Baden Württemberg. The first external web link at cemetery level (uniformly referred to as "Zentralarchiv HD") refers to the relevant entry in the online directory of Jewish cemeteries maintained by the Zentralarchiv zur Erforschung der Geschichte der Juden in Deutschland, Heidelberg. In addition to further references to the cemetery in question, details of the respective documentation process, such as the year in which the photographs were taken and the names of the persons responsible for the so-called "basic documentation", can also be found there. The grab descriptions published in the present collection can be traced back to the work of these editors. In the scans, an automatic compensation of brightness and contrast was omitted in order to obtain as much image information as possible, i.e. as many grayscales as possible. Many images therefore appear to be overexposed or underexposed at first, but this can be adjusted in the image presentation module using the "Brightness" selection button. This preserves a maximum of gray levels, of which a part would otherwise be lost, especially when shooting under extreme light conditions (dark gravestones in front of a snowy background/bright sky or the upper half of the stone in full sunlight, the lower half in the drop shadow of a neighbouring stone, etc.).           Find aids: Find book from 1952 (online searchable) Filing form: Langenapel belongs to the Hanseatic city of Salzwedel, Altmarkkreis Salzwedel, Saxony-Anhalt. The Langenapel, founded in the course of the eastern colonisation of the 12th/13th century, was located in the Altmark, which developed into a territory in the 13th/14th century and finally came under the sovereignty of the Electors of Brandenburg in 1449. In 1816 the Altmark became part of the Prussian province of Saxony, which existed until 1945. For 1375 a Brandenburg castle in the possession of the von Crucemann family is documented in Langenapel. In the early 15th century, the castle fief of Salzwedel Castle passed to the Knesebeck family (black line), who, in 1425/33, brought the entire village to themselves through exchange contracts with the Schulenburg family. A storming by the citizens of Salzwedel in 1443 and an opening treaty of 1469 deprived the castle of its military significance. However, in the late 15th century the Chancellery of Kurbrandenburg counted the Knesebecks on Langenapel among the exclusive circle of the feudatories of the castle. The manor, which had been converted from a castle into a state manor, remained in family ownership until its expropriation in the course of the land reform in 1945. In 1842, the manor included patrimonial jurisdiction and the church patronage over Langenapel, which was parsed after Easter Sole. The property complex also included a manor in Dähre, acquired in 1544, and a fortification in Lagendorf that was documented in 1616. Around 1897, the Knesebeck family acquired the Deutschhorst manor from the von Meding family, the manor archive of which was incorporated into the collection. Inventory information: The archive of the Langenapel estate of Knesebeck was seized by the priest Dr. Nötzel in Osterwohle and taken over by the Saxony-Anhalt state archives in Magdeburg in 1948. As the holdings had signatures, the old structure was restored according to the signatures. The order and recording of the archive records as well as the creation of a register took place in 1952. The retroconversion of the present finding aid register was carried out in October 2013.           In the course of the modernization push, which was set in motion by Heinrich Friedrich Karl vom und zum Stein and Karl August von Hardenberg's reform officials after Prussia's defeat against Napoleonic France, the decision was made with an audience of 16 December 1808 to abolish the traditional cabinet system in favour of independent specialist ministries and thus also to establish a Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The latter should be responsible for the commercial management of all international law transactions, i.e. the representation of the rights and interests of the Prussian state vis-à-vis other states. The ministry was responsible for embassies and consulates abroad, including the Prussian diplomatic representation in the Kingdom of Saxony in Dresden. Like all diplomatic representations, the legation of Dresden had the task of regulating diplomatic trade between Prussia and the states of the legation, which not only included the Kingdom of Saxony alone, but also included the Thuringian-Saxon and Anhalt states at times. Furthermore, the legation had to take care of the concerns and problems as well as the concerns and wishes of individuals and private institutions in interstate legal relations. The war against France in 1806/07 marked a considerable turning point in relations between Prussia and Saxony. Tensions were insurmountable, and neither state was interested in intensive diplomatic relations, since Saxony, which Napoleon elevated to kingdom status, remained loyal to France until the end of French foreign rule in 1813. During the years 1806 to 1815 diplomatic contacts between the two states were maintained, but due to the political events there was no continuous diplomatic traffic between Prussia and Saxony. In June of this year, the Prussian envoy returned to Berlin, the files of the legation archive were taken to Berlin. History of the collection In addition to political correspondence with reports of the legation to the Prussian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its decrees on all international and national events, the collection also includes files on a wide variety of interstate issues in Prussia's political, police-legal, military, cultural-social and economic relations with Saxony, in particular on the economic and political unification of Germany and on relations with other states. The files were transferred from the Prussian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Secret State Archives in several deliveries between 1814 and 1939. For distortion, the file titles were checked, corrected if necessary and deepened with "Contains - Notes". The file group "Political Correspondence" is an exception. Here the concise title of the file - analogous to the depth of indexing of these archival documents in the other legacy documents - was left and not further intensively indexed on the basis of the diverse information in the individual correspondence. The correspondence files were sorted by place and in chronological order. In the case of collective files, the files were sorted by the first place listed. Indexing was based on the information given in the volume. In 2005, the decision was made to increase the total holdings I.           Order and Classification: The MfN holdings are listed in the University Archives under the name "Zoologisches Museum" and sorted by access number. The existing stock was presumably re-sorted several times over the years. At the end of 2017/beginning of 2018, the cartoned MfN inventory was entered into our Augias database system in autopsy, classified and a finding aid book created. The FB index is based on the page numbers. Foreword: The basis for the museum, initially known as the Zoological Museum, was formed by the zoological objects transferred to the University by the Royal Chamber of Art. The collections were housed on the second floor of the eastern wing of the university building. The museum was to be "the centre for the state's zoological collections and an educational institution for all the people". Soon after the foundation, however, the government withdrew all anatomical specimens and transferred them to Prof. Rudolphi (1771-1832) to establish his own collection. The museum, without a regular budget, was financed by donations. A registry was established in 1819. "In 1836, the museum was renamed a "collection" because the first title was intended for art museums only". After 1856 the institution was again called "Zoological Museum". The new building, intended to house the geological-paleontological, mineralogical-petrographical and zoological collections of the University, was given the name "Museum of Natural History" by ministerial decree of 7 May 1887. The building of the Museum für Naturkunde, ceremoniously opened on 2 December 1889, was erected on the site of the former Royal Iron Foundry in Berlin in the years 1883-1889. During the construction work, it was decided to separate the collections into a joint display collection of the three museums housed in the Museum für Naturkunde (ground floor) and several further separate main collections (1st and 2nd floors). The collections were open to the public several days a week. From 1911, official guided tours and lectures, led by a scientific official, took place. They were interrupted during the First World War. The collections each included their own institutes. In 1884, in connection with the appointment negotiations of Franz Eilhard Schulze (1840-1921), the Zoological Institute, which was also housed in the museum building, gained its independence as a special institution. The files available here are thus likely to be the only remains of the registries of the offices mentioned, whereby the losses must have been enormous especially at the first two offices and presumably occurred only after 1945 due to the destruction of files without consulting the City Archives. Also files of the police office / police administration were found in approx. 25 cases in the stock and left in this connection, furthermore quite sporadically also further offices, whose delivery is good in the city archives (range of the Abt. 11 - 20, see above). The district office of Worms appears several times (especially in the files concerning economic concessions) as a preliminary provenance. TWO. The holdings were taken over by the City Archives around 1900 with a focus on the 1920s, but there are no individual records of this. On the file skirts, in which it was stored standing up to distortion, the delivery layers A, B, C, D and occasionally E were verifiable. In addition there was a larger delivery of the public utilities in 2002 (concerning the tram) as well as some files, which were delivered afterwards by municipal offices. In the course of the listing, the dissolved departments 64 (Scholarship Foundation Cornelius Heyl), 65 (White Scholarship Fund) as well as individual pieces from department 6, among them the documents of the 20th century previously kept as department 6 U, were integrated into department 5. Departments 3 (minutes of the 19th and 20th centuries) and 4 (invoices of the 19th and 20th centuries) had already been dissolved and assigned to Dept. 5 according to their period of affiliation, thus achieving the same status as Departments 1 and 2. For layer A there is a typewritten overview produced in the archives (now abbot 206 Old finding aids no. 4), which shows that abbot 5 A also contained files of the time of municipality (1792 - 1813), which are now integrated into abbot 2. The files lasted until about the middle of the 19th century and were arranged according to the registration plan for the Grand Ducal Mayors of Hesse of 1837 (original plan in Dept. 13 No. 1019). For stratum B, which comprised files from 1792 to 1906, mainly from the second half of the 19th century, there is a similar overview in Dept. 206 No. 4, also according to the order of the 1837 registry plan. There is also a handwritten register, which was apparently drawn up in one go and probably soon after 1906 (Dept. 206 No. 11). This list differs from the typewritten list mainly in that it contains a considerable number of files which are missing from the more recent list, only partially reappeared in the new list and must therefore have been cashed in or lost in the meantime. It also contains handwritten supplements of the archive employees Mrs. Sauerwein (in service until 1986) concerning files, which, for unknown reasons, had not been mentioned in the old register, had meanwhile appeared and been incorporated into the inventory, as well as a loose note of archive director Reuter with notes to the layers A, B and C. Also to layer C, which was formed from files of the time mostly after approx. 1906 - 1931, an old handwritten directory is available (Dept. 206 No. 12). It corresponds to the registration plan for the Großherzoglich Hessischen Bürgermeistereien of 1908, although it does not show sections below the departments marked with Roman numerals, but only consecutive numbering. This type of signing can also be found in part on the subsequent files up to 1945; a draft file plan with decimal classification (Dept. 5 No. 6631) submitted in 1932 has left no traces. There was no revision or machine transcription here, but there are more recent handwritten supplements by various hands. There are no directories for layers D and E, smaller deliveries. III. losses and cassation Due to the bombing raid of 21.02.1945 "primarily the loss of the stocks bricked up in several storeys in the Cornelianum was to be deplored, whereby above all considerable parts of the younger files of the city administration were lost. The exact extent of the loss of archival records, which may have been about 30 to 50 percent in the case of the more recent files, can hardly be determined with certainty" (Bönnen, Stadtarchiv, p. 22). In view of this and the losses - probably to be separated from it - noted above at layer B, any further cassation by the city archives was refrained from. The period of the densest file tradition extends from the end of the 19th to the 1920s. IV. Condition and storage The files stored in bundles and standing at the beginning of the indexing process, as well as the books, were, as far as possible, transferred to archive cartons in the usual manner. In the case of the tram files taken over from the Stadtwerke in 2002, the unusual condition that the original files, loosely laid out in file covers, were all put in standing files had to be reversed. Otherwise, stand-up files, folders or even thread-stitching appeared only sporadically.           Inventory description: Abt. 209 Postcards Size: approx. 9000 pieces in 9 wooden boxes and 4 cartons, including 1. 3730 original postcards Worms/Umland and approx. 80 digital copies = 3521 registered pieces 2. approx. 5700 pieces other postcards without Worms or regional reference as well as duplicates Duration: after 1880 - 2001 How the postcards came into the archive and in which period the postcard collection was built up is not known. It is likely that these are mainly individual donations from users and smaller purchases. The collection also includes digital copies based on original originals in private ownership. In January 2006, the postcards of Mrs. Gerlinde Mauer, a temporary worker at the Jewish Museum, were re-sorted, while the existing group sorting was retained. From March to November 2011 the motifs related to Worms and its immediate surroundings as well as the military postcards were scanned with 300 dpi in original size and described by Mrs. Ingeborg Abigt in Augias until February 2012. For this purpose, a new classification was developed based on the old one. In addition, more postcards have been added ever since. The collection is stored in 10 wooden boxes in the magazine, shelf no. 46. The focus of the postcard collection is on collected views of Worms sights and views of the churches. The collection also contains a large number of military and propaganda cards, as well as postcards relating to the Grand Ducal Family. One part is unmarked, another has been sent by post and is marked with text, addressee and stamp. Since these are already published pictures, the stock is released for use. Reproductions, however, can only be made for private purposes due to the predominantly unclear legal situation. Exceptions are postcards of the publishers Christian Herbst and Füller, which can also be used for commercial projects and publications, as the city of Worms owns the rights, and postcards older than 70 years and therefore in the public domain.           History of the Inventory Designer: History After the foundation of the Reich in 1871, the creation of a common railway administration for all German states was not initially on the agenda. The southern German states feared the overweight of Prussia and finally rejected Bismarck's rich railroad law of 1875. Only the railway lines in Alsace and Lorraine, which were separated from France, were subject to the Imperial Chancellor since 1871. For the railway system in Germany the network of the Alsace-Lorraine Railways (besides 7 state administrations at that time) existed as the only state administration until the transfer of the state railway administrations of the Länder into the possession of the Reich. This railway network consisted of the parts of the French Ostbahn assigned to the German Reich on the basis of the Frankfurt Peace Treaty of 10 May 1871 and the lines of the Wilhelm-Luxemburg-Eisenbahnen taken over on a lease basis by the State Treaty of 11 June 1872 with the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The newly formed "Kaiserliche Generaldirektion der Reichseisenbahnen in Elsass-Lothringen" had been established for this purpose by the Most High Decree of 9 December 1871 with the powers and duties of a public authority. At first it was directly subordinated to the Reich Chancellery (Department III for Alsace-Lorraine). Until the French occupation of Alsace-Lorraine in November 1918, it was also the focal point of operations and administration. For the development of transport in Alsace-Lorraine, in addition to the special traffic situation on the Upper Rhine road and the Burgundy Gate, the development of industry was of importance. While originally the textile industry in the area of Mulhouse stood in the first place, the German heavy industry, which shifted to Lorraine and Luxembourg, came more and more into the foreground, in addition the potash works in the Upper Alsace, which developed on a coincidental discovery, and the not very important but in Germany at that time almost only petroleum extraction near Pechelbronn. In the interests of smooth cooperation between transport operators and production units, a "Railway Committee" was set up on 1 October 1874, composed of representatives of chambers of commerce, industry and agriculture. This first Railway Committee later became the model for the Railway Councils affiliated to the other German State Railway Administrations. The Directorate-General also broke new ground on the question of tariffs by creating the so-called wagon room tariff. The inauguration of the first railways in Alsace-Lorraine, the Strasbourg - Basel line, took place on 19 and 20 September 1841. Thirty years later, when the Alsace-Lorraine Railways were taken over by the German Reich, the length of the line was 768.21 km, plus 174.54 km of the Wilhelm-Luxemburg Railway Company. Under German administration more than 1200 km were added. From a technical point of view, the railways were regarded as model installations in every respect: the transhipment facilities between railways and inland waterways were brought to the highest level of technical efficiency; the stations in Strasbourg and Metz were converted from small provincial stations into metropolitan stations with all the requirements of modern times. Net revenues in 1872 amounted to more than 5 million Marks, increased to 20 million Marks in 1890, 86 million Marks in 1900 and 153 million Marks in 1913, the last year of peace. On 27 May 1878, the Imperial Decree established the Reichsamt für die Verwaltung der Reichseisenbahnen in Berlin. It was a central authority under the direct authority of the Imperial Chancellor to manage the administration of the railways in Alsace-Lorraine and the neighbouring regions. The General Directorate of the Reichseisenbahnen in Alsace-Lorraine was now subordinated to the Reichsamt für die Verwaltung der Reichseisenbahnen, which acted as the state supervisory authority. The respective Prussian Minister of Public Works was entrusted with the management of the authority. First head of the Reich Office was State Minister Albert von Maybach (1822-1904), later Karl von Thielen (1832-1906) followed from June 1891, Hermann von Budde (1851-1906) from June 1902 and Paul von Breitenbach (1850-1930) from 1906. Direct management was the responsibility of the Directorate-General for Railways in Alsace-Lorraine, based in Strasbourg. Until 1 October 1909 it consisted of three departments: Division 1 for Operations, Division 2 for Construction, Division 3 for Transport and General Administration. To this end, the company management, traffic inspections, machine inspections, workshop inspections and a telegraph inspection managed the various branches of the company and traffic, while the central technical offices (the technical office, the construction office, the mechanical office and the materials office) independently handled a number of general transactions falling within the scope of the central administration. On 1 October 1909, a reorganisation came into force, the importance of which lay essentially in the removal of the operational directorates without replacement and the abolition of the central offices and the telegraph inspection, whose business was now handled by the Directorate-General itself. At the same time, the number of departments increased to 5: Department 1 for General Administration, Finance and Budgeting, Department 2 for Operations, Department 3 for Transportation, Department 4 for Construction, Department 5 for Machinery and Workshops. The 17 operational inspections in Alsace-Lorraine and 3 operational inspections in Luxembourg were directly carried out by the Directorate-General. The Executive Board of the German operations administration in Luxembourg was the superior authority for all departments of the district. There were 8 traffic inspections in Basel, Mulhouse, Colmar, Strasbourg, Saargemünd, Metz, Diedenhofen and Luxembourg. The traffic inspector in Basel also held the post of representative of the German administration vis-à-vis Switzerland. There were 6 machine inspections: in Mulhouse, Strasbourg, Saargemünd, Metz, Diedenhofen and Luxembourg. The main workshops were in Mulhouse, Bischheim near Strasbourg, Montigny near Metz and Niederjeutz near Diedenhofen. They were subject to the workshop inspections in Bischheim and Montigny two each (for locomotive construction and for carriage construction one each). Secondary workshops subject to machine inspections were located in Saargemünd and Luxembourg. Since 1911, all inspections have been called Offices, Plant Office, Machine Office, etc.). A few files from the former Central State Archives in Potsdam are in the inventory R 4202 General Directorate of the Reich Railways in Alsace-Lorraine in the Federal Archives. The files of the Reichsamt for the administration of the Reichseisenbahnen were offered to the Reichsarchiv for takeover in autumn 1931. From the entire file stock of about 4000 volumes, 1313 volumes were transferred to the Reichsarchiv for permanent storage in accordance with the then existing regulations. Obviously, there were no war losses. Archival evaluation and processing The files of the Reich Office for the Administration of the Reich Railways taken over by the Reichsarchiv were arranged, listed and recorded on index cards in 1932, followed by a finding aid book for the holdings (today: R 4201). In 2008, the inventory was recorded in the BASYS-S database of the Federal Archives on the basis of the find book available from 1932. This was done by entering the data into the BASYS-S database of the Federal Archives for the purpose of making the search results available online. The intensive index data were taken over for the most part original with the abbreviations used at that time. Only the numerical archive signatures were retained for the indexing; for found files with volume numbering (e.g. 154 a), each volume received a new archive signature. This concerned all files with the now new archive signature R 4201/729 to R 4201/1430. The previous signatures were listed as old signatures, the files themselves were re-signed in 2008 in the course of an inventory revision and magazine-technical work.
